That's a pretty good deal if you think about it. with 2000~2002 S430~S500 cars going in the low $20K's, A $30K investment would make you a real sleeper on the street!

True, but that same $30k can get you a higher milage S55k and it may save you the headache of an engine transplant..not to mention anything else that may need to be upgraded with the engine..

With that kind of miles on the clock, someone probably drove the **** out of it by now... bad buy.

If you plan on swapping the stock S500 engine with the S55 engine, you should also consider swapping the transmission (much higher torque) and a few other pieces of the drivetrain...

In the end it may not be worth it...

80K Miles shouldn't constitute an issue all by itself... I've bought cars with more than that mileage and put another 100k on them without any issues in regard to the drivetrain.

But you are right if you state that it depends on how the former driver drove the car. You can wreck a drivetrain (even the undestroyable MB ones, if reasonably treated) within just a few miles, if you want to!

+1.
Some lower miles car can be in bad condition too ! Don't buy cars on ebay if you can't test drive car !Especially the car is out of warranty !! You can check out the autotrader.com for local cars. When I look for my 03 S55, I test drove some 04 S55, and finally pick a silver 03 S55, just because the over all test drive feeling and condition inside and out, maintence record. You can tell the privious owner take good care of the car, even the miles is higher than others S55 ! Some 04 S55's body paint looks worse than my 03 !!

Before spending way too much money adding a SC to the NA 500, you would be far better off finding an S55. Aside from the engine, the entire car is engineered with performance in mind.

the only "realistic" way to make a benz go faster is to buy a faster benz.im amazed at how far you are considering to go in an attempt to get more from your current ride.dont spend any more cash on it and step up to the v-12 bi-turbo and simply make the payment.

Nope. That are the orginial ones to be found on a 2005 S500. But there is some water under the plastic (already corrected though).

I'm going to do it !
Hi all,
Hope to make this thread alive again.
I intend to add a real v8 AMG supercharger to CLK 500. It's taken fron CL55 AMG Kompressor.
My project is to add also a bi-tourbo to this very 5litres engine.
So the AMG supercharger will be efficient at low RPM (up to 3500), then exhaust turbos will take the hand from RPM 3500 to .... I can't stand to feel that torque !
You should know that Mercedes Benz chassis is stong enough to handle more Horse Power, even 7G-tronic transmission.
I would like to Reach nearly 500 HP instead of original weak 308hp.

I will make this engine tuning with keeping original ECU, but will make it chiptuning because I change the injectors: More air ++ more fuel !

This is my latest project for who knew me before: i transplanted V8 55 AMG engine and transmission to a CLK v6 240.

Since you did this before, I guess you know this stuff.

But a SuperCharger Turbo Charger?

Anyway look for BlackBenz he has a Kleeman SuperCharger on his CLK430 one of the fastest Benz here.

there is a production car either out there already or in the works that has a supercharged and turbocharged small-displacement I4.

VW? can't remember.

thought so. thanks. great idea for squeezing maximum output from minimum displacement at reasonable cost.

Karim, you crazy SOB! I see you are at it again!!! I know that you will make this work as well. I now have 10,000 happy miles on my V6 - CL500 V8 conversion! Since the ECU transplant has been figured out, I am thinking of running a super charger or rear mount turbo and use the 55K ECU to run it. I sent you an email explaining my next project. I hope you got it. I have seen some tubo/superhcarged twin charged cars and they are awsome. I am leaning toward just a turbo since, I have all the low end I can put to the gound in my little car.
