What year is that car? My struts look like the one in the WIS or did you remove the damper ( Mistake )?

Vintage tools are cool...I have a few here and there..

I was hoping someone would chile in and comment on your strut situation.. I'm curious about the year of your vehicle because your pics differ from the drawing by a bunch.

It looks like that bottom section of that strut is pressed into the control arm or its just sitting in there. If it is you cannot remove it with the car on the ground!!

Based on what I see, This is what you should do.

You can raise the car, and remove the wheel,

make sure there is no pressure on the strut by disabling the pump and removing the air line,

Put a jack under the control arm and raise the control arm a little, to put a pressure on the strut.

Remove the top nuts holding the strut to the frame,

Lower the control arm slowly with the jack until the strut clears the top and becomes free,

Then you can pry the lower part of the strut out of the control arm as you have shown in the picture.

It may be a little hard as this piece may be pressed in, or held with an internal locking clip. But if the top part is free, and you can position the strut straight up and down, you should be able to pop the lower part out of the control arm with pressure.
