Thoughts on these wheels

I'm wondering what you guys think about these wheels? They would be AMG replicas in the standard 18x8.5 inch with the 44mm offset.

I think they look fantastic

Keep in mind its a photochop so be gentle.

Also, anybody every get replica wheels by bekkers.com?

Thanks

Whatever there's gas in...
They look great on the car! Hopefully the quality is on par or greater than the original AMG wheels though. Good choice IMO!

Thanks.

I doubt the quality will be up to the oem standards, but then again, cruising around the tristate area is murder on wheels as is, and I'd feel a lot better bending a $250 replica wheel than a $600 stock wheel. Plus my stock wheels have some rash/scratches.

I'd buy OEM wheels, but they don't make them with the 44mm offset in the 18" size.

I like them. Where are you getting them from?

Well, now it depends.

I can get OEM 8.5 E550 wheels of this style for $300 each. The trouble is that they have an offset of 38mm, which is a little shallow (stock is 44). Then again, I'm not lowered and 6mm shouldn't cause a huge problem but I'm not sure.

The replicas I would get at www.beckers.com

Can I get some input on using 18s in 8.5" width with a 38mm offset? I know thats gonna push the wheels out, but the car isn't lowered, and some rough measuring seems to indicate that there would be no problems.

Any thoughts on this?

Thanks

38mm will be okay, they actually look great on the rear because they stick out towards the edge better than the stock setup.

The drawback to that is that they do the same for the front.

Also, even though you aren't lowered, you ( may ) still get some rubbing on big dips. Then again you may not.

If you run a moderate tread width tire and not use a bridgestone for example, you should be fine. The Bridgestone RFT's for example, I found to be .25 to .5 wider at the tread than the same size tire in its class.

I was running 8.5/19 Lm6 repilcas on my car and everything was great until I switched to the RFT's I couldn't understand why all of a sudden I was rubbing until we compared the tread specs and realized the above results.

I think you are more or a michelin type which is a very good choice so you should be pretty happy with the stance of your car with these wheels.

I would be more concerned with front caliper clearance. If that's okay then you should be fine.

It's a nice looking wheel. the photo shop makes it look more like a 19 or 20 which I like better. You will have a lot more side wall on an 18 than the pic shows.

thanks for the input good sir.

I'm running a Michelin pilot sport a/s 245/45/18 all the way around.

Also, the 4matic calipers are pretty puny, so I don't THINK I'll run into issues there.

As for the picture, you may be right, but I actually got the sizing pretty good, considering I used mspaint, lol.

Oh yeah.. make sure they will accept your TPMS sensors. There are still a lot of the older style wheels out there that have a deep recess on the inside where the vlave stem goes and the sensors won't work. You have to make new holes ( carefully ). Case and point my LM6 replica's

Thanks for the tpms advice, I was concerned with that.

I'm pretty sure I'm gonna go with the authentic wheels. Since they are from a facelift 211, they should be compatible with the tpms one would think.

Thanks.

Hmm, on the fence with this one. I saw a W220 with the W221 Sport Package 19" wheels before and thought it looked really sharp.

ML, could you post a pic. I can't keep one wheel straight from another anymore.

I tried searching and I could have sworn that somebody posted a pic of the W221 wheel on the W220, but I guess not. I've actually seen it in person and thought it looked nice. The only problem I see is that it might not look different enough in design and wheel size to justify the cost of buying an entire new set of them compared to the 20".

Thanks guys.

I found a great deal. 4 OEM 8.5x18s mounted with tpms for $300 a wheel.

Can't really beat that.

The cls and the E sport have the same wheels.

Trouble is that the CLS factory wheels are 19s, which I don't want.

I've decided that replicas aren't the way to go.

Thanks for the input though.
