I LOVE MY S500!!!

I realize some of you guys may have nicer cars, but this thing is hands down the finest car I've ever owned. I know it's used (a 2000), but it might as well be brand new to me. I just got the car the second week of Janaury and only got to drive it two weeks before I came back to the rig (I work offshore), and I still hadn't figured out how to use everything when I left the states. To me this thing is some serious luxury.

And now that I've been down here in Brasil for a month and will fly back to the states tomorrow, the only thing I can think of is ridin' my Harley and cruisin' my S500 to Dallas, Oklahoma, and where ever else I can think of to stall comin' back to Houston!

Mercedes-Benz........

(Sorry for burnin' up otherwise perfectly good server space guys, but I just had to say it, I'm that impressed)

Congrats and welcome!

The year and class of the car doesn't even matter, as long as you enjoy it nothing else matters! =)

Absolutely agree with you Wendell, and welcome to the forum. You needn't apologize to any of us for owning any Mercedes; and the W220 is a classic in any year it was made.

Reading the manual set that came with the car will increase your enjoyment of it. The car has more features than most of us would imagine. If you didn't receive the printed set, you can download the owner's manual at http://www.mbusa.com/mercedes/#/servPrtsOwnersManuals/ - also the maintenance manual. You can get the COMAND manual at http://home.earthlink.net/~phdwebsite/comand_manual.htm (the '01 COMAND operation is very similar to your '00).

If you have anything that doesn't seem to work, try the procedures at https://mbworld.org/forums/s-class-w...ml#post3682080 first.

If you need to update the phone system, see https://mbworld.org/forums/audio-ele...ml#post2788377; and if you want to add an iPod, see https://mbworld.org/forums/audio-ele...mentation.html (your car has a D2B fiber optic bus, and you'd need a GW500 D2B version; easier to install by far than the MOST version I wrote up).

If you have ANY trouble with your instrument cluster - the warranty was extended on the cluster for 10 years from initial date of service of the car. Your MY is coming up on, or may have passed, the 10 year point (your authorized dealer can tell you the initial service date by referencing the VIN). If you have any of the extended warranty remaining on the cluster, and have ANY problem, have it replaced right away. The main problem is failure of the cluster's lighting, but any problem is covered. Don't let the dealer snow you with words involving "recall" and "VIN not on the list" - the extended warranty replaced the recall and applies to ALL W220 S-Class and W215 CL models. http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w220...-question.html

Your battery should be OK after being gone a month; but you might want to invest in a maintenance charger, if you're away a lot and no one drives the car. http://www.benzworld.org/forums/audi...y-charger.html

Happy reading, that will keep you busy for a while - there's more to learn when you catch your breath. Congratulations on your new purchase!

Wow!! That's good information to know! I'm on the rig right now and it's my last night right now so I'm just playin'. But when I'm home this weekend, I'll thoroughly review each link. Thanks again!

Cheers!

Hmm is it me or is your command wood console a bit darker than stock?
