Pump Crapped Out
So last night as I was driving around the block looking for parking I noticed some burning crappy smell, I ignored it and thought it was the car behind me.
I park my car 2 minutes later on the next block and as I shut my car off and begin to walk, I hear a loud grinding noise as if a tire pump is running DRRR-DRR-DRRR. I approach my car and I realize its my car. I didn't understand what was going on as my car is off what the hell could that be, there was also that burning Oder. The first thing that came to my head was thats its the pump goints nuts. I restarted my car and put some weight on the front end and it would make that noise DDDRR-DRRDR-DDRR, then I moved it a little forward and back and it was gone, stood around for 3-4 min and no noise. I knew next morning the car was going to be on the ground and just went home.
I come this morning to check it out and it seems still fine. I start it up and it begins to drop like a brick slowly, 2 minutes later its almost on the ground. I push the raise button nothing happens. I tried to move it up and down nothing. 5 min later AirMatic Low stop driving...
I called up 02S430 for some advice and he came by and tried to help me(thx Chris). We tried the relay and battery but nothing. I guess now its time for a new pump and a tow
I found a pump for $300 on AutoHaus is this the correct one?

I found it
Part Number: 2113200304
Rear suspension - Ride control - Compressor Compressor, e320, e500, e55 2006
$220.80
Also I found the HELLA Relay for $24 there as well.
But when I type the part number for the Hella Relay(0025427219) in AutoHausAZ it gives me this one:
http://www.autohausaz.com/search/pro...ber=0025427219
I wonder if its the same.
Right now I'm more concerned what made the pump crap out with no warnings and just out of the blue. Age? a faulty relay causing it to go haywire?
I think my first step will be able to pop in a new relay, maybe the pump isn't fully dead and has some power left...maybe the relay shorted somehow.

I need help. The nut holding the second screw is rusted beyond belief I tried Wrench, Power drill, pliers the head is now dead and I'm stuck what to do.
I removed the first one easily, this is the 2nd one and the 3rd one is at an almost impossible angle.
I hit a wall and put the wheel back on and left. I sprayed WD-40 and waited 10 min still no go. At this point I have no idea how I'm going to get it off.

Well to start will the first ?? if the pump was running after you shut your car off and walked away.. thats what burned the pump out your relay stuck.. You problably never noticed when driving it was on way more than it should of been..
The pump actually dosent need to run that much when your driving... and if there stuck on it dosent take that long to burn on out.. Make sure what ever relay you get make sure its the updated relay that benz approves ( they switch companies)
With the stuck nut, if you cut it off you might be able to save the braket but you'll have to tap the treads... But the stud might break off most dealers stock that braket they brake often.

i know this wont help you, but for others...
when you heard the compressor running after the car was off, couldnt you have just disconnected the battery or pulled the relay to prevent it from burining out?

Yeap, you need to pull the relay to save it. I just wish I knew about this back then, hopefully someone will save a pump by learning from this issue.

I assume youll be replacing the relay too...can you take some pics of exactly where it is, for the rest of us?
So we know exactly where to go to pull it out in case of emergency/
thanks!

Fixed, Uncle came out with me and we got everything off.
Car is up right now, but I didn't screw all the bolts into the spikes not enough clearance because of pump size..its wider a bit and I cant screw the tings in without cutting into the pump. So I'm baby it to the shop and have them fix the rest because basically only 1 bolt is holding the pump right now.
Also it was a ***** to make the old hose reach the new design.. its really far away.

New pump should be plug and play, unless you tried to re-use the vibration dampener while the new one is installed.
You were supposed to buy a new hose if you bought a new pump because the new pump has a different dimension requirement for the hose.
When I replaced my car's pump with the new pump and new hose, it was literally plug and play.
I don't know why yours wasn't plug and play.

All FIXED! Thanks to everyone who helped me here and in PMS!
Lesson to be gained from this for anyone who still has the SIEMENS/TYCO relay switch to the HELLA RELAY!
