Parktronic not working after battery disconnect?

Recently I had to disconnect my battery and replaced the alternator, and the parktronic is not functioning now. It goes red and beeps, then turns off. What could it be? Does it have to be reset internally? Anyway I can do it myself or do I need to connect the car to a computer? I had to reset the power windows and whatnot, but this one I am not too sure!

I took it to a mechanic, and he reset it - it was OK for 2 minutes, but then it went back to beeping again and turning off.

They checked, and said all 4 rear sensors were not working. Did jumping the car or replacing the battery possibly damage the sensors? Just changing them will fix it right?

These cars do not like jump starts. My jump starting caused the Electronic Control Module to fry and several things stopped working. Yours might be the same (I hope not). If it is, the part itself is around $600 plus a few hours of labor.

The fact that Parktronic stopped working after this might be indicative of a damage to electronics.

Everything else is working fine, only my 4 rear parktronic sensors are out..so if I replace them, they should go back to working again right?

No Rondo, if the control module is damaged, it is not sending a signal to the Parktronic sensors thus replacing the sensors will not change anything. In my case the rear sun shade was not working, the motor and mechanism of the sun shade were fine, the control module was the culprit.

I hope this is not the case with yours but it sure smells like it is, if you jump started the car. I learned to call MB Roadside for a jump start (no charge) or use Michelin Smart Cables(with surge protection) if I absolutely have to jump it myself.

Please keep us posted.

Yeah, I thought it was odd that all 4 sensors would go out after the jump and battery was replaced...so this control module supplies just these 4 sensors? I have not noticed anything else malfunctioning.

It is called Gateway Control Module, it controls all the functions in the car inclusive of your parking sensor. Take it to a dealer and have it checked out.
