Brake Line Wear Message

Hi Guys,

I just got this warning on the display this morning about "Brake Line Wear Visit Workshop" is any one else have this problem and is this problem some thing that can be done on your own DIY. I just don't want to bring to stealer. Is it some thing that I could do to fix it or reset it. Thanks in advance.

You need at least pads and a new sensor now. Once the sensor goes off it needs to be replaced. It's pretty cheap though and is replaced with the pads.

Ever done DIY brakes? MB brakes are as easy as most others. No surprises at least.

Hi,

I have been busy didn't get time to work on it yet but thinking about this weekend but have this question to ask you. How many sensors do I have to replace and how many in the brake system does it has. How about the message on the display will it clear when you replaced sensor? I tried to get workshop for it no luck yet. Thanks so much in advance.

If its the same as my 02S500, (3) brake sensors ( (2) in front, (1) in rear). Buy a whole bunch, they're cheap.

It only takes one to set off the error. So you may be looking at one or all three. You'll need to remove the pads to see which one has worn down to the sensor. But yes they are cheap. You are about 90% or 95% used up on the pad. It's been a while since I changed my brakes but I think it will reset once you change the sensor.

The whole point of having the sensors is that you don't need to replace brakes until the sensors tell you it's time to change the pads!!!

That's what they are there for, you dont change your brakes before the sensors go off.

and replacing the sensors is a $5 part that is a normal part of doing a w220 brake job.

Thanks tusabes, that's exactly what I needed to know. I've got the 'squeals' now and wasn't sure how much time, before I replace.

I will assume that most others agree?

my dealer quoted me right around the same and an indy MB shop quoted about $100 less. parts on azautohaus come to $450ish, so $600-$700 in labor is outright robbery. does anything need to be reset to get rid of the message or will changing the sensor take care of that?

It take less than an hour of REAL labor for all 4 sides. Keep that in mind.
