03+ cl55/s55 Calipers -> 01 S430

Hi All,

I've tried to do my research but there is no definite thread/post that goes over what is needed for an AMG caliper/brake install.

I just recently picked up some Calipers from a 05 CL55. I know the brakes are the same for the S55. I asked the seller if I would need to change out the spindles, however he mentioned that he tried to put the calipers on a 02 S500 and it fits and that I DO NOT need to change out my spindles. My questions is, are the spindles suppose to be for the Calipers to fit? or for the Rotors to fit? and is the seller lying to me?

How hard is it to change out the spindles?

For the rears I picked up 04 CL55/S55 Calipers I heard that they are pretty much Plug and play. are my stock rotors sufficient? or do I also have to pick up rear 03+ CL55/S55 rotors?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Bryan

you need the knuckles from a 03+ s55 or cl55 and the rotors/pads your stock rotors will not work. also need the correct bolts to mount the calipers to the knuckle stock ones are too small. rear might need a little mod to make it fit correctly.

Thanks for the pic of the knuckle.

Yikes I guess the seller "juked" me when he said I would not need the spindle! How about the sponsor on the forum that says he has an adapter so that we do not have to change anything?

Thanks, But I already bought calipers from a 05 cl55 front and 04 cl55 rear. Would your s600 rotors work with these calipers?

I was searching for a DIY Brake job and reading through some posts (not w220 cars) but people are saying to disconnect the SBC? what does that stand for? and does this apply to W220?

Thanks!
