Car shop has star diagnosis does not know how to lower car via star

I asked a local certified MB mechanic who has a star computer, if he can lower my car, he said yes but that he does not believe it is possible, can anyone explain how its done in Star???he says i have to go to dealer because they use a diff computer for lowering, but that if i find out how otherwise he will do it.

Just go into Chassis/Body and select height. Make adjustments, then allow it to recompensate. Pretty easy really.
The dealer does use a different measuring device for height, but I work with my dealer daily as a supplier, and he said for "non-radical" adjustments, it is not necessary. I adjusted my my 05 CL down about an inch.

If the guy doesn't know how to use Sd then you wouldn't want him adjusting it anyway.

Also Sounds like he doesn't want the liability if you complain

This will be the same with a 2008 CLS 550?

All the values in the SDS must be within factory specs set by MB if you wanna lower your vehicle through the SDS.

I'll try to elaborate more...

Let's say MB set the ride height with the level sensor values @ 3 volts. Let's say half an inch raising or lowering moves the values + or - 1 volt and that's what MB put into the control module/unit as "ok". You can get the vehicle as low as you want but once you confirm that ride height and the SDS doesn't like the values of the ride height level sensors, it'll kick it back and return to the previous settings.

This has happened to me on 221's and 230's though. I know you're asking about a 220 but i'd hate for you to take it to the dealer and spend money only to find out it can't be set to what height you want.

Revisiting this, please indulge me.

Had it on STAR last night, could see all the test / diag features and do them but couldn't for the life of us figure out where to input values to set height adjustment.

Can someone please elaborate? This should be helpful but I'm thick 8-/:

"Just go into Chassis/Body and select height. Make adjustments, then allow it to recompensate. Pretty easy really."

Any insight appreciated - TIA gents... bish needs to come down a bit, esp in front...

Also, his 16pin connector has a missing pin so we were in via the OBDII cord - is that doable for this still or do we need to use the 16pin connector?

Thanks - great thread, but... post #193 in there seems to suggest our 220's require 'something additional'?

Further along the lines of that thread... have many here shaken the secret handshakes that exist with STAR for our heaps / care to share?
