I would also look on the AKEBONO website.
I have the Euro pads and love them, dustless and high performance.

The Akebono's do but there is a front and a back the backs have the holes too far out so even though they look identical you need to put the ones with the holes closest to the backplate up front.. this is especially manditory for the fronts.. backs only have one sensor.

I'm not sure I understand the question.

You take the sensor, and slip it into the middle of the pad. There is a hole for it.

where you guys source these OEM rotors? I'm nearing due on fronts

I'll be running a more aggressive pad when time comes, hoping Ferodo DS2500 is avail for these - have to check.

Verymuch looking fwd to 'that' - these OEMs (can) fade scarily on 3rd hard hit

$300 each with free shipping.

Even with aggressive pads, the s600 brakes are just not up to the job. its a 4800lb car, the brakes are just not enough

ouch

pricey bits, those are!

4600lb

so... you've driven a pad'd 600 then?

the brakes are plennnty strong and large - the pad fade resistence is lacking tho

fade after 3 hard stops is not plenty large or strong. Then again its not a sports car.

I've driven a few of the V12 cars, the only ones that stopped well were the 65s. The initial bite on the 600 was a bit weak, but the brakes were overall ok. As you noted though, the fade is apparent. I also don't like the mushy brake pedal all Mercedes seem to have either.

still thinking pads is going to make an acceptable difference

hmmm - my pedal is fantastic, not at all mushy whatsoever, and my intial bite is great!

you must have driven so-so examples

they are definitely plenty strong - they just fade, which is typically pads (14" rotor is plenty big enough of a sink, and fixed 4piston Brembo cals don't exactly suck)

Pads will likely help, but with an aggressive pad, you are going to give up cold braking performance and will noticeably reduce pad life. Saying nothing of dust and potential noise also.

You mean to tell me that you would get out of your 930, and then get into your s600 and say that the s600 has a firm pedal?

Fade is the result of a number of things, not just pad compound. 14 rotors, while big, are not outrageous on a heavy car. Brake fluid with a higher boiling point is also crucial.

I wasn't impressed with the S600 brakes, but I'm not all that impressed with the big reds on my 993TT either.
