Bluetooth dongle for 2003 W220?

Hi everyone, I'm new around here, I've had a 2003 S430 for a few years now that has teleaid with the phone capability installed. I always thought that it was impossible to add Bluetooth connectivity to this car, but I recently came across a discussion about adding a dongle to a 2003 E class with teleaid. Is it possible to do the same with the 2003 W220? If so, could somebody please point me in the right direction so I could purchase the required parts? Thanks everyone!

Does your armrest look like the picture below? If so, I bought a bluetooth V60 unit from MB several years ago. It still works and allows me to use voice commands, and the steering wheel controls for my telephone. Check out the attached thread where I posted pictures of my console. https://mbworld.org/forums/s-class-w...-retrofit.html

Yes and no. My armrest has the flip up section for the phone, but there is no cradle there. Should there be a connector port in the bottom section of the armrest as well? I notice the cord running from the cradle to the lower section in your pic. Which part is necessary for the dongle, the cradle or a port? I'll have to run out to the garage and check it out. What should I look for? I can take a pic if that helps.

I love your car btw.

If you don't mind me asking, what phone are you using with your V60 adapter? I have an '03 S55 with the V60 and I was able to pair my Samsung Galaxy SIII to it but it isn't quite fully working. For example, while listening to the radio the other day I received an incoming call which correctly muted the stereo. But using the steering wheel buttons, I wasn't able to actually "pick up" the call. I'm not quite sure if I have a problem with the in-car microphone and the call was actually picked up or if my phone is incompatible with the dongle but for some reason there was no sound received through the speakers. One other note, I was able to use the steering wheel controls to scroll through the phone book on my phone so it would seem that there is at least some level of compatibility. Any help would be appreciated.

I have used both the Blackberry and the iPhone 4 with mine and no problems so far. Matter of fact, as soon as the car starts the first thing I see happening is the car pairing up with my phone via the bluetooth. Since my service is on Verizon, I haven't tried pairing up the v60 with any other carrier to see if it works. As far a the buttons on my current hook-up they all seem to work including the voice commands.

I'm not certain but I always thought the V60 adapter was carrier specific. I have a friend who has t-mobile so I'll try and link up with that one just to see what happens.

AT&T, Iphone 4, no problems with anything besides the occassional complaint from somebody on the other end that it sounds like I m in the shower or something. Aside from that, good for bluetooth, I just haven't experience really clear bluetooth phone connection from any of my stereo's (aftermarket or stock).

Thanks for the info, at least I feel like there is some hope. My carrier is AT&T. I hate to sound stupid but how are you guys initiating and/or accepting calls? Hopefully I'm just not doing something correctly.

In my car, the phone pairs up with the bluetooth dongle right away and I am able to scroll through my phonebook using the steering wheel controls. And when I tried using the voice command to call one of the contacts, it instead asked for a phone number (which it was able to successfully enter), however it never made the call and gave a time out message.

When I use my phone with my other bluetooth adapter, a Blue Ant 2, I'm able to initiate calls and accept incoming calls directly through the adapter via the built in voice commands on the phone. I'm wondering if the MB command system doesn't like to play well with the Galaxy SIII.

I would say that 100% of my call "accepts" are made via the steering wheel button. Also, since I generally don't use the phone that much in the car, I make just about all of my call via the voice commands.

Are you telling the car to dial after you have said the number? A general command for me after I have tilted the lever on the steering wheel is such as the following:

Me (after tilting lever) "number"
Command center - "the number please"
me - "123 456 7890"
me - (after saying correct number) "dial" if incorrect number just say "cancel"
command center "dialing"

Seems to work each time. Are you saying the "dial" part after entering the number?
