Searching for wheels/rims for my s55 amg...04

Anyone have any ideas? I've found a few OEM's on ebay. I have a bent passenger rim on front and back after running over a dear. Fortunately it didn't break anything else on the undercarriage.

Would it be better to look around. It comes with a staggered set...18x8.5 and 18x9.

If I decide to go to replica, what size would fit...could I do a 18x9.5 on backs. If anyone has pics or good ideas please feel free to IM me or post some of your pics. I'm all ears.

I'm not a wheel guy but would like a nice set that doesn't break the bank. At the moment I have the 65312 and 65313 gunmetal OEM's

ozaudioman, I have an '03 S55 and I'm in the same boat as you, I have a cracked front rim. My rims are currently (front) 19x8.5 44ET and (rear) 19x9.5 46ET and I'm running 245/40-19 on front and 275/35-19 on the rear without any problems. From what I have seen on eBay, there are numerous options for you in 18's and they run anywhere from $600-ish for a set to $4500+ for a set. You can also check TireRack as they usually have a pretty good selection of 18's that will fit our cars.

Thanks Pokey...One more question, what are my ranges when it comes to offset on these wheels? You're at 44 and 46 respectively. Where would be my ranges? 35+ to??? Front/Back??

Thanks again

Ah, that's the mystery question. If you go with a lower offset, the wheel will stick out of the wheel well, which will give you additional clearance between the backside of the wheel/tire and things like the caliper and suspension components. The downside to less offset is that too low of an offset can cause the outside of the tire/rim to contact the fender during suspension compression.

As far as what we can get away with on our cars, I'm not 100% sure. I would imagine +/- 5 mm wouldn't pose any problems at all and depending on tire size (ie narrower) you may be able to get away with +/- 10 mm without any rubbing. That being said, you can always get a wheel with a higher offset and then use a spacer to get the correct 45-ish back spacing, for example a ET55 wheel w/ a 10 mm spacer.

If anybody has any further information or solid dimensions please chime in.

Ozaudioman:
If your rim is just bent, why don't you get it repaired?

My 2 right AMG rims were bent by a pothole (also 2 tires shot with herniated sidewalls); dealer recommended replacement.

A local shop specializing in repair of these rims fixed them to perfection for $ 100.00 each (you should see their fancy computerized German equipment for this). They even weld them and repaint them.

This is mine on 8.5x19 on the front and 9.5x19 on the rear at 45 offset all round.

Front tyres are 245/40/19
Rear tyres are 275/35/19

The next time i get tyres though, im going to drop a profile size down both front and back.
