'04 S55 amg ABC pump changed. Cricket noise now
Just have the tandem abc pump changed yesterday along with both front and rear accumulators. Today I've noticed a very weird noise come from the pump area (99% sure from there). It sounds like cricket, anyone let me know if it's inside the pump making that noise or it's the pump pulley?
URGENT!!,!

Also, the inside of the idler pulley. I found this plastic ring hanging loose! Look like it fell off the inside of the pulley.
What should I do? Have to change idler pulley ASAP???
I'm on my iPad. I don't know how to add pic.

One fast and free check can be made by spraying a fine spray of water on the inside of the serpentine belt with the engine running. If the noise goes away or changes noticeably, it is almost certainly from the belt.
You can also use a mechanic's stethoscope to listen to each of the belt-driven units and idler or tensioner pulleys. The stethoscope, which has a long metal rod that is touched to the non-moving parts, will let you hear a failing bearing or unit. Use great care to avoid moving parts and the belt! They are inexpensively available at Harbor Freight or most auto parts stores.

Thanks, I sprayed some wd40 on it and it went away for few seconds and it come back. Hopefully, it's the tensioner (right next to the p/s) making that noise. Since all the pulleys are stock still, I'll replace the belt, tensioner and idlers (the plastic one already broke) on Mon.

I got it fix! Member OKclass, had the same noise, he changed the belt and the sound dissappear.
Since the plastic idler cracked and the tensioner never been changed. I replaced the tensioner, both belts and both idler pulleys. Everythings good.......for now
