Need help
I recently figured out how to command up and downshift control via a wireless 2 channel receiver that talks to the optic switch assembly inside the shifter of my W220. It receives signals sent from two paddles I installed in the factory steering wheel that are connected to a 2 channel transmitter behind the airbag module. As best I can tell, I am the first one to ever do this on a 220 chassis, as doing so was a challenge because the + and - detents do not activate a contact switch, but rather an optic beam is used! I can't find photos or even discussion anywhere of anyone else having done paddles on these. Instant shifts with no delay either. I'm in Las Vegas if you need help with your own car, just say the word!
Please help me with my car to do this

Hi, all. Piggybacking on an informative thread instead of creating a new one.
I have a 2003 E55 AMG, which likely shares parts discussed in this thread.
I just bought the car and both button shifters on the steering wheel do not work as expected. However, manually shifting using the gear selector does work as expected.
Is this a known issue with a solution?
Any common places to look for the issue?
Could one button dying kill the other?
My gut says that the paddle shifters noted above (A-171-267-00-46) will fit my car. I don't want to buy them but the problem lay somewhere else in the system.
Any help will be appreciated.
