Look at an inline 6 engine bay then look at the engine bay of an s600....

I mean seriously. You people are clueless. Yet most of you seem to have one parked in your driveways so im not sure whats going on.

If you cant get that there is a massive, MASSIVE difference in space available between the two then yeah???

No one is talking about the difference in space in between engine bays. I'm pretty sure all of us know that its really tight in there. Nobody here is clueless.

We are talking about reproducing what has already been fabricated in a tight engine bay with Mr. Sasaki's headers.

If it has already been done and fitted inside a tight space like that, then it's definitely possible and all you need to do is replicate it. Sure, when we start talking about cost and who could actually do it is a different story.

Well if no one is talking about the difference in space in engine bays why did you act like why is this so difficult when everyone and their dog is doing this to inline six's that to me is saying oh its easy because everybody and said dog is doing it to inline six's which tend to have cavernous spaces right around the headers. There is certainly more than a couple in this thread that are indeed clueless!!

How many pieces of stainless tube have you ever tacked together in your life with a tig torch in a blind space with 5 other tubes going around it????
Most people cant even tack together a piece of stainless on a bloody bench with any sort of quality within 3months of welding school or actually doing an apprenticeship.

Again im a welder with 25 years of experience. I know what im looking at so dont try to tell me oh its easy we can do this **** in 20 hours with a blindfold on.

I mean FFS you deliver the car to said fabricator....
OH there goes a couple of hrs to 4 just pulling the old headers off and thats if its easy
There goes another hr removing **** that you know is simply going to **** you off.
There goes another hr just sitting there nutting it out....
Lets order some quality stainless steel.... there goes $2000NZD bucks in materials.... Thats actually what v8 materials usually cost and just for the header to mid 304 dairy grade mad in New Zealand stainless steel
Do you know what radius bends he used in the pics? (tighter the radius the more they cost especially in seemless)
How do you cut and fabricate a 6 into 1 collector?
Not something everyone does every day....
Lets spend 15-20hrs just cutting and fabricating two collectors....
What angles to rotate the tube to on each cut?
Will it fit in your bandsaw?
Oh you need a jig to hold the stainless to cut it on that angle in your bandsaw??
Lets spend another couple hrs making jigs just to cut **** on special angles so it all fits up nice as it should....
Oh you finally got it tacked up all the way down the car after 70+hrs....
Lets use whole full size bottle of argon to weld this flash stainless exhaust system up there goes $400+ NZD (argon might be cheaper in the USA)
ETC
ETC
ETC...

Bloody retards.

There’s no need to get angry or call us retards, we understand you are out there actually building these exhaust systems and none of us can do it .

I did look at your Facebook and your work is impressive

It's always fun reviving old threads!

Just an update in case anyone was still following this. So, I've decided to purchase the headers from Brilliant Exhaust. I've contacted Mr. Sasaki and just waiting to hear back from him. He stated in his FB post that he's pretty busy and got work cut out for him and was not taking on any new projects. I'm hoping he can fit this in.
I spoke to him before and he gave me a good deal to buy just the headers and ship them to the states. I hope he can still honor that. We'll see.

In the meanwhile, for those who are interested in making a set, I've stumbled upon a company called 'ICENGINEWORKS' and their custom header kits. They are plastic lego-like pieces to mock-up header design. And they include cutting spacers to help you determine the angle of cuts for the piping. This kit makes it really convenient to design equal-length headers and extreme bends on the tubing for those who have a bit more technical know-how on fabricating exhaust. I unfortunately don't have all the know-how to to cut and weld exhaust pipes. Else I woulda given this a try. But if anyone else wants to pursue, then this might be a great option. Here is a link to the product: https://www.icengineworks.com/produc...1500np-series/

Here are some videos which demonstrate how it works:

Oh snap! I was looking for that. I have access to a 3D print shop that one of my buddy works in. I was going to ask him if he can 3D print them if I can find a template. Not bad. Thanks!

Here is an update on the progress of the header installation. Basically the headers are installed mounted. Just have to fabricate the rest of the exhaust piping. The steering shaft gets in the way of the drivers side header merge collector. I'll try and get a better video when it fires up for the first time. In the meanwhile, you can watch this video on how it looks for now. P.S. And yes I'm wearing a Boba Fett mask as I was still as my workplace and had to wear a mask.

Wow, I never thought that steering shaft oversight would be an issue. Maybe Mr. Sasaki never noticed this flaw because he has only worked on right-hand drive cars where clearance with the steering shaft wasn't an issue.

Are you going to modify the headers to clear the shaft? Seems pretty gut-wrenching to cut them up and modify them considering their price tag.

Well actually Mr. Sasaki acknowledge that the subframe and the steering shaft was an issue(http://www.speedhunters.com/2020/04/...-sasaki-story/). I don't know what his workaround was. Perhaps, like you said, if it was a RHD W220, then the steering shaft probably wasn't an issue. But we're gonna have to slightly cut off that bevel in the end of the merge collector and put a like a pancake pipe in an angle so it can connect to the rest of the piping afterwards. Let's see how it goes. I'm thinking of asking Mr. Sasaki but given his track record of responding to people online lately, not sure if I'll get a timely response. Anyone speaks Japanese here so we can call Mr Sasaki directly and you be my interpreter?

The higher screaming pitch of an F1 V12 is only possible due to the extreme rpm they spin. The exhaust note of a V12 at 6000 rpm will, at best, sound like an F1 engine at half speed. You will not get that famous scream.
You can get tonal similarities to the F1 cars by equalizing the header tubes, targeting length that accommodates your desired frequency, wall thickness, material rigidity, RPM dependent, but that changes dramatically by firing volume/ cylinder numbers, port design ,intake design, valve diameter & angle, collector angle, resonators, X-pipe/ Y-pipe configurations ALL are responsible for generating sound characteristics.

It all comes down to Hz, & a V12 puts out 300% the exhaust pulses @ the same RPM as a 4 cylinder, so they generated a lot more Hz of tonal capacity.

The Hz generation of a 4 cylinder at 12K RPM is similar to the Hz generation of a V12 @ 4K RPM

The single greatest contributor from my experience is equal lengths of header tubing before collectors in the proximity of 17 inches. you see a LOT of headers on shrill sounding engines in the 17-17.5 inch range.

The car is at Eurocharged in Houston, TX getting a tune and final exhaust fabrication done to the exact specs of how Mr. Sasaki had done it on the previous S600 he installed it on. The last shop in Florida was just able to install the headers but couldn't complete the exhaust fabrication and the tune it needed. I have some clips but they sound horrible as the car was misfiring and the exhaust piping was a bit thick. I'll make some video update once it's close to finish. Eurocharged said they will start working on it in few weeks as their queue is full and they are moving their shop to another location. My luck...I just can't find a shop that can dedicate to finish my car asap. Maybe it's the pandemic but every shop I took it to, took forever to complete any part of this project.
So yeah, very close to it being finished, but not yet.

Can you measure the longest/ straightens runner

by chance, can you measure the length of the longest/ straightest runner on the header?

im wondering if my assumption is that it is around 17” to 17.5”

I bought an ICEengineWorks tubular header mock-up kit.

now that my S65 is all good, I figure it’s time to start playing with the M137 S600.

I’m just wondering if my ballpark guess is correct.

also, I might just design a billet collector, so I can accommodate for the steering shaft interference.

It's gonna be hard for me to obtain that. But maybe I can ask them when they drop the engine. They'll have to drop the engine to modify the exhaust so I'll try and see if I can obtain that when they drop it.

They should easily be able to tell you the rubber length, especially if equal.

I appreciate it.

I’ll order up some flanges& a 6-1 collector.

I think with the ICEngineWorks kit, I could mock something up quickly.

Latest update. This has dragged on so long, I don't think anyone else is here anymore or remembers.
Short story: So as of now, Headers installed properly. Full straight-pipe exhaust bolted on. Car is running on 6cyl. So it sounds like crap. Trying to get that fixed.

Long story: After I obtained the headers(2020), I was looking for a shop to install them. Since I didn't know any reputable shops besides RennTech which came to my mind, I passed them on cuz I thought they'd charge me arm and a leg and wouldn't be worth it if it costed the same as taking this car to Japan. I searched on Facebook for a shop around Florida since it'd be nice to do some rolling shots and videos after the car was done. Anyways, found a indy benz shop in FL that posted custom exhaust work done on M113 & M156 engines, exhaust fabbing and welding. So I thought, he might be good. This was just after Covid lockdown. Shipped the car with headers to FL. He ended up taking almost 2 years to finish. I didn't know what to do. I subtly pressured him. He said it'd be Summer '21. Then eventually October '21, I finally had the car shipped back. Off the transporter, it was misfiring and shutting down. I said, forget him. I'm not sending it back to him again. Then I decided to send to shops more well known. Decided Eurocharged Houston. Transported the car on Dec '21. They laughed when I told him the previous guy who had the car for almost 2 years. They said tops 4 months. It's almost a year now. And this is where it's at. I dunno what you guys would do if you give it to a shop and they take their sweet time. I was trying to avoid taking to diff shops and wasting money on transporting the car every time. But yeah, I should have either gone to RENNTech first or maybe other reputable shop that I'm sure many of you know. I just didn't. Anyways, I've pretty much lost interest in this. There is only so much one can wait to have something done. I'm gonna try to finish this, take some videos and pics, then sell it and move on. Thanks to all who helped me throughout this project. I don't have the same energy and zeal anymore for this. I've lost countless days of sleep trying to figure out what to do and where to go and how to proceed. But I'm over that now. If these guy at Eurocharged can't figure it out, I'll just offer it for sale as it if anyone wants to take over. I had hopes to make a YouTube channel and make many videos of this car. But I never had the car in my possession for the last 4 years, so I couldn't make any vids. Have 3 kids now since then. So other priorities have taken over. Anyways, will post update when I get something worthy of posting. Still a die hard W220 fan. I know i'll pick up a W215 CL600 later in life for sure.

Sorry to hear that it's all gone so pear-shaped. One of the things that's a little wild at times in the luxury/exotic tuner scene is how badly things go when they go badly. So many of the shops play up what they can do, charge an arm & a leg, then don't deliver. Even some of the more reputable shops mod as paid to the letter then offer zero support after you've dropped thousands in their laps even when issues come up directly as a result of the mods.

Wish this had turned out better. Really looked forward to seeing this completed and on the road. Hope it's all wrapped up soon so you can be done with the stress.

This is def one of those scenarios. I don't like to talk trash about others. Sometimes I don't blame others but myself for the poor choice. But I'm pretty much at their mercy. I can't do much since they have my car and it's more disadvantageous for me. Sure I can take it back. But I would if I knew a solid alternative. Anyways, I'm not gonna complain much. I'm the type that if I go in, I'm going all in. I'm gonna finish it no matter what. At this point it woulda been better off doing it straight from Mr. Sasaki. But it is what it is.

On the bright side, if it exists. I got a lot of stuffs planned all these years that I'd do to the car. As the car sits, it's body is a bit unique. Complete W215 front end conversion. I just bought a wald black bison rear bumper with diffuser. I've sourced a Prior Design w215 front bumper & chin spoiler that I'll be putting in. I've got 3 sets of multi-piece wheels plus original Lorinser RS8 wheels. I planned on doing some video shoots with them. So I'm still looking forward to those. And of course bunch of tunnel runs. I also wanted to take it on a closed circuit race track and do high speed runs with it and turn that into some videography. But let's see. Hopefully I reach that point. Thanks for your words of support. Till next update.

Alright so just received these two small video clips earlier today. Flying this weekend to Houston hopefully to check the car out and see if it's really done. Basically one of the coilpack was not working. So I had them replace both. So both new coilpacks and voltage transformers and spark plugs done last year from other shop. Supposedly running how it's supposed to. But I don't take their word for it anymore. Gonna have to do down and see for myself. Will update as it comes. Seems promising. They couldn't put the new rear bumper that I bought for it so I'll have to put it on later and change the exhaust tips then.
