2002 mercedes s430
New member here. Have a simple question.
I bought my 2002 s430 last year. It's my first mercedes and I fell in love with it at first sight! I have unfortunately started having an EIS issue recently. I had mercedes scan the car and they verified that the eis is going bad. Sometimes the key won't turn. I have been unhooking the battery for a minute to reset the system and start the car.
I read on here that you can swap the eis, key, ecu, and shifter from a donor car to get it running again.im I am clear on the eis, key, and ecu.
But not clear about the "shifter". Does it refer to the actual shifter assembly or the shifter module in the passenger floor well behind the metal plate? Any information to clear this up would be greatly appreciated. I'm going tomorrow to pull the parts off of a donor s430. Thanks

"Shifter" refers to the shifter assembly in the center console, from the lever down. The TCM (Transmission Control Module, which is not one of the four theft relevant parts) is located in the right SAM under the hood. I am not familiar with a transmission module on the floor.
