I am doing an Audio 10 to Comand 2.5 conversion. The connector from the Audio 10 fits the highlighted spot in the Comand 2.5, but it is wired differently, so I need to know what the pins on the Comand 2.5 unit are for.

So the white and green CAN wires from the car doesn't go in the A connector which I thought. Do I have to get hold of a C2 connector type male and connect the CAN wires to C17 and C18 for the steering wheel buttons to work?

I don't know exactly the wiring of the audio 10 in comparison to the Comand 2.5. But, as I understood, you are trying to replace the audio10 by a Command 2.5, right? The connections required to run the Command 2.5 are, D2B fiber Optic, Plug A for the power supply, Plug B for the speakers, 3 Antennas (GPS, Radio and ZF (I think its called diversity??) Plug E to connect the navigation with the radio component and Plug C2 for the CAN Bus and connection of the speed signal and the Plug E. All plugs are FEMALE, the Comand side are all MALE. MB has the inserts with wires for the plug and sockets available, which can be inserted into the plug (female) and socket (male). See attached picture. Its in german but I guess self explaining. The first item is the wire with the inserts, the second is the plug C2 and the third is the plug housing. To run the Comand 2.5 the CAN bus C2/17 and C2/18 are essential.

Ok - I wrote C2 MALE connector because I thought the term was regardig the connector itself, not the pins/receivers. But if it is like that, I understand, the plugs from car are female and the Comand pins are male, because Comand has the pins. Got it
Ok, so I do need all 3 of those parts? They are all for the C2 so the one in the middle goes inside the housing?
These are the connectors from the car. White and Green are CAN, the blue/black I am not sure of. Neither sure of any of the Brown, Gray, Light Gray/Black on the other 3 wire connector.
Anyway - I don't bother with navigation or CD changer to work, the only thing I want working is Radio, steering wheel controls, and of course display and backlight, and auto on/off.

So far you obviously got it. The blue/black is the so called Wake up. The attached picture shows what I could identify. There is still the question of the Plug E, which you need, since the Comand 2.5 basically consists of two components which need to be connected, by the plug E and the required pins in C2. The pins for the plug C2 and E? are females (really crimped, as per my picture earlier today), and they go into the plug housing. They can be removed by a needle, pressing on the triangle part of the pin, and pulling the wire (2 times). You'll see when you have it in front of you.
I am not sure about Connector E, I can't seem to find any more connectors in the car. However, i guess worth mentioning is that when I got the car there was an aftermarket 1-din player in it, and the owners have done some tricks on some cables that I can not account for. So I'm not to say there never were something else. Anyway here is how the car looked when I got it. And a photo of the 4(or so) cables that I don't know what is, and a photo of testfitting the Comand unit.
Yoy don't have the part number for the C1 Aux connector and wires by any chance? That would be nice to have, but not critical for me.
Plug E goes in the lowest 26 pin connection on the Comand unit or what? It would have been nice to see a Comand 2.5 with all the plugs connected just to get a visual view of how it's supposed to be.

Ok, can you submit your VIN? So I could identify what you have, and the original configuration once was. Are you located in the USA or Canada? The connector E is a 26-pin plug, which goes into the lower part of the Comand 2.5. I can't send you a pic showing the original connections, as I converted my Comand from 2.5 to 2.0 16:9, and the connections are different, AUX would be nice, but as you don't have the TV-function you would need a multi media Interface (~100$) or an older analog TV-Tuner to activate the AUX function (plug C1)
I am located in Europe and the car is originally german spec. Aha, so no AUX and no TV then, but that is totally fine.

In order to get the Comand 2.5 to work, you need to "create" the plug E and its pins, and the antennas. Do you have a pin out of the Audio 10 system???

Im not sure if the E plug is necessary, if you only want the radio functions. It is worth a try. Attached the Pin Out of the Audio 10. You need to connect the existing wires into the C2 plug (Comand 2.5) accordingly. Wake up, CAN bus....E-connection is most likely the navigation controller, only. Hope your German good enough. Info let me know.

This I have not connected to anything as of now, but I see on the C connector on the Comand, the same K-leitung input. What is it, and should I connect it?
So you are positive it is terminal 15/16 and not 17/18 for the can wires? I just see that one description says 15/16 and another says 17/18. And I want to be right the first time, because I don't know how hard it will be to change after inserting the wires into the plug...it looks like a tight fit on the C2 plug.

17/18 is the so called Robert Bosch TV Bus, and is not needed in your set up, unless you are planning to add a MMI (multi media interface). 15 = White = CAN Low, 16 = Green = Can High for your purpose. To remove the pins you need to press with a needle into the chamber (little visible triangle shaped part of the pin) and pull the wire, this is a first step, and another peek and pull again and the wire including the pin are out of the plug housing
Update. So I finally received the C2 connector and wires, and was able to make the CAN and K-wire(for diagnostics) connections. Plugged it all together and everything I wanted to work is working! Auto on/off and Steering wheel control, and dashboard radio info all ok.

look up past post from "corkshoppe" it should still be on here, its only 3 pins to be relacated and you can add aux cord. i did it years ago. only thing that woont work is gps because of speed sensor. if you can't find it pm me and look up my papers.

Can you explain the wiring diagram to swap from comand 2.5 to comand 2.0 16:9 wide screen, as all i need is to make the audio work and the screwn for sure, how can i fire it up??
Hi, i'm attempting to do a similar Retrofit on my 2002 S500. I'm going from Becker 30 to Comand 2.5 The issue i am having is the display screen doesnt seem to have any backlight and with the exception of the "Disp Off" button, none of the other buttons on the top row work, nor do they light up when the headlights are on. I have Auto on & Off with the key, steering wheel functions and cluster display, thats how i was able to set my presets. Any help or advice here would be greatly appreciated.
