Thanks for any responses

This software update will not give you DX compatibility. Seems like you have a pre 10/99 comand 2.5 which also lacks the dynamic routing capability (not sure if that is available in the UK).
Also, a warning on the software update posted by miroj; something he fails to tell anyone. This update, if not done correctly will irreversbly destroy your comand and turn it into a boat anchor (so if you want to, follow the instructions below).
Also, make sure that your comand is even supported. I have added another picture of supported comand models for you to confirm (You can check on your comand part number by selecting the radio and then pressing the mute, 1 and 3 buttons simultaneously, then go to the versions menu, then select FIS)
Coming back to your question, you can go onto eBay and find a unit, but be careful, there is a lot of junk out there. Has to be newer than 11/99, but I believe there are no physical differences so you can check on pictures and have to trust the seller. IMO, a somewhat risky endeavor.
Otherwise, there are still current non-DX nav cd's for sale. Takes more cd's, but it still works fine...

thus your claim is Certified Cr_p. Which is to be expected given that the bootloader gets written last.
As for the versions, there are lots of newer 2.5 units on the market at low prices.
BTW wolfman ...... I posted that control information here months ago, including how to write the same firmware into a comand twice in case you want to erase MBenzNL logo.

Totally agree witho you!
MB stealerships are just NUTS with their price schedule and labor guides, that's for some reason at least doubles the other professional shops and time guides...

I've looked at lots of S Class cars, different models S55 S600 these cars are very well built and do not go wrong, that is unless you or the previous owner/s have abused the car. I've owned three over 12 years from a 1988 SE500’s. In the UK they are mostly used as Taxi for first-class citizens so from day one the driver is not concerned with the welfare of the car. You have to buy with your eyes and research the model. I don’t spend much money on my S500 I just treat her like a lady lol.... Dealer Costs that's another story lol.. My car is 12 years old Doctor owned it new before me, so never been used nor abused. and the value of her is just £2000 in the UK $3000 usd Gas prices here Tax tax tax
