Talking MY01 W220 S500 mileage - not too bad! :)

Went to Palm Coast, FL from NYC on Thanksgiving week and decided to get there by car. Not a bad mileage, huh? (See pic below).
Timing isn't vad either

just to understand that i had to convert mile to km (1.6) and gallons to litre (3.7) that meant you were doing 33.76KM for every 3.78 litre its definately better than city driving

Yeah... I made like 5 or so stops for about 5-10 min each and kept about 90-100 mph most of the way.
Actually I noticed (from previous trips) if you keep running at about 70-75 mph then I was able get MUCH better mileage (about 22-23 mpg for 4+ hour trip).

In metrics the readings would be:
1637 km
125.5 km/h
11 L/100km

Hi, DMI+RY - you must have passed me on the road (I went from Baltimore to Tampa the same day). 22.2 mpg average, and we kept the car running during some stopovers (to keep our puppies warm). Our average speed, however, was only 68.

Hi, Skylaw....

The thing about fuel consumption that I noticed (which is different for each car/engine model) is that the best mpg on S500 you can get cruising at 45-70 mph (I usually get around 22.5-22.8 mpg for my NYC-Boston trips), but once you go over 80 mph your fuel consumption increases dramatically...
