W221 vs. MASERATI QUATTROPORTE vs. MBZ CLS
In terms of style, exclusivity, road presence, performance, fit/finish, overall value, which one wins???
[I hear they may be coming out with a CLS65 LWB - which would put it at similar length to S-class].

i had a continental gt and have driven the new flying spur... although i agree that the gt has the nicest interior i have ever seen, there was just something about the car (maybe too many vw parts...) that didn't spin my wheels the way others have... as far as the flying spur - same thing... nice car but not for that amount of money...
back to the maserati vs. w221 - i would say wait for the amg version of the w221 and go for that... i think it will be unbelievable - you won't be able to hang with vince and the boys on "entourage" but...

the cls - especially the amg55 - is a very nice car... two different beasts though... my s55 i commonly refer to as rolling thunder - big, impressive and very fast... the cls is more nimble but definitely feels smaller - still very fast though... i personally just like the "feel" of the s55... no bad news either way... if i were under 40, i might be more inclined to drive the cls - but alas, i am not...

Since image is everything here in Vegas, between the CLS and the new S-class, what do you think will get the best valet spot?

2006 SL55 with 030 Performance Package
Cantdrive55
I have a Flying Spur spot for March 06 and a spot for a new S500 AMG package.
What did you think of the Flying spur ride and performance did the car feel amazing or just like a Audi A8 long wheelbase?
Thanks,
AMGBENZ

Mercedes all the way!
the Conti GT has the best interior you've ever seen? sorry man, the Arnage interior is so much better, it's not even worth a comparison. the Arnage is truly above the rest, and the price shows it.
the leather stitching on the GT and Flying Spur (same thing) is similar to what you get in the Merc - nice, but not truly "deep" - more cosmetic than anything. in fact, i'd say even the Maybach and RR can't compete with the Arnage in that department. and the Quattroporte is even further behind with its strange gearbox and inconsistent quality.
i might take the CLS though, i might be wrong but i doubt they'd make a stretched version - where did you hear that news from? to me it's a bit cramped but i really like it. so yeah, i'd take the W221

The S-class will dominate, and will likely be my next car for '08.

Yes, there is a seven-seat LWB version CLS65 in the works! Here's the link:

Before, I wasn't thrilled at all with the CLS; the doors don't close like the S-class. If this monster comes out, it may change my mind though.

They have no idea what they talking about,CLS will never get any V12 engine because of new european pedestrian impact laws.(it would not leave enough space under hood to comply)
Also, they confused the new 7 pas R-Class with the CLS.
Both cars will get 6.3,thats about it....

you are totally right that the CLS will never get a v12....6.3 v8 maybe but I think that they are going to stay with the 55 for 07 at least

Well, if that's the case on the CLS, then it will never reach the status, prestige, or performance of the S-class. It will always be just an E-class on steroids, and for those who want to get the big image, but can't afford the S-class!

I just think a sedan should be a real sedan. That is big, long, bold, masculine and full of luxury with just hint of sportiness. If you want the sporty look then go for a real sports car like a 2-seater Ferrari or Lambo. I can't stand small compact sedans, as they defeat the purpose of what they're intended for which is to COMFORTABLY accomodate at least 4 people. The CLS is an interesting concept and it does have nice lines, but it is just too short/small as it stands and I'm by no means a big person. In fact, it is shorter in length than my CL600 which is a 2-door coupe! But that's just me.

The new S owns the CLS in features and technology, but the CLS absolutely annihilates the new S in terms of styling. The CLS interior is beautiful as well, its a real departure from other purely functional MB interiors. The Masi is pretty exclusive and has a sweet interior and the exterior styling is very nice as well. The only real problem with the Masi is the lack of available power. 400hp is a decent chunk, but in this day and age and for that kind of money, more is needed.

If only they would make their mind and put a V12 in it......

In the market
I hate to sound like my MB loyalty is failing, but owning the Quattroporte....man....that would be sweet! I think I would go with the Maserati given those choices.

Good news: THEY ARE PUTTING A V12 IN THE Q-PORTE!!
http://car-reviews.automobile.com/ne...with-v12/1122/
I still like the Bentley as far as the interior though. Very tough decision.

They have decided not to do it unfortunately and introduced 2 new packages, the Executive and Sport(a rehash of existing options anyway).
