Trunk Looks Bad

I have not seen the real car yet so keep this in mind. But the trunk bothers me. That is really the problem with the current 7 BMW series in my opinion. The sheet metal just looks like they put it on top of some other piece of metal already there. What do you guys think? I'm sure the guys that have bought the car already are going to say good things about the car. How about the people that have seen the car and don't have a order in or don't own one yet? What say you?

I think one needs to reserve his final opinion until he sees the car in the flesh, but from pictures I think it looks fine and will look better in person. I also think it looks a lot more integrated that the 7 series trunk which really looks like an add-on. I don't think this one does, much like the maybach.

It grows on me. I recalled the first time I saw 7er came on 2002. I think the raised trunk is popular these days -- bmw 7er, mb new s, acura rl, maybach, even coming new toyota camry and next lexus ls will have the same kind of trunks.

Mr. Bangle is ahead of us -- raised trunk, iDrive, etc. which are followed (or say copied) by other competitors. (The concept car of new LS showing that Lexus is followed BMW now, not MB anymore because MB designers are lack of innovation in designing cars.)

So the CLS was not innovative innovative in its design? How about the R? ML? SLK? CL? SL?

Lexus is still a thief and will never have its own design.

Not sure how ahead Mr. Bangle is considering the raised trunk was first seen on the Maybach concept car in 1997, years ahead the Bangle and the ugly 7 series.

Mercedes all the way!
and lets not forget COMAND was, i think, the first time anyone used a computer screen to present information in a car - navigation, CD, and movies all in one - appearing even in the W140 in Japan - of course, iDrive brought the concept even further.

and i agree with the above comment regarding Maybach: it was there first - and there were Merc concept drawings from as far back as 1993 with a raised trunk. in any case, the two are very different: the 7's is the only one where the body doesn't even ATTEMPT to follow the raised trunk - that's why when you open the trunk it looks like a Porsche.

i don't actually think the new LS has a raised trunk? :p

yes, all of them are great cars in mb family. (designs are ahead of other competitors.)
