Anyone done an Ipod Kit Installation on a S Class??

I was looking at buying the Ipod keit for my 2007 S-CLass, but it doesn't come with any instructions?

Anyone have any idea who has a step by step guide or pictures?

Has anyone tried a self install?

Not familiar with retrofit myself however, I can forward MBUSA instructions which may be useful - PM your email address.

i have done a few of them and the 221 is one of the eaisest ones to do. You'll have to remove the comand unit first and connect the kit behind it.

I saw that there was not much to the kit, two harnesses and a brain.

My concern was the disassembly of the dash / Command / Glove box. Not sure where to start and dont want to break anything.

Something tells me that removing the COMAND unit in a 221 is not easy...how is that even done?

I wouldn't advise anybody doing this themselves if they aren't comfortable with electronics and taking their car apart. However, sunman is brilliant -- he can do practically anything - look through his web site for his work.

to remove the comand on a 221, pop the panel below the comand off. It's just clipped there. Behind this you will see 2 torx screws. Remove these. Then press the upper panel and it will lower. (as if you were changing a cd) on the top left and top right corners, you will see a flip cap that covers 2 more screws. Use your nail to press the thin corner in and it will flip open. Remove these screws. The front cover will then come off. Using a long shaft torx screwdriver, you will see 4 more torx screws that hold the comand in place. Don't worry about dropping them in, they are retained in place.

installation is very easy; about the same as doing the ipod kit on an ML/GL/R class. once the command unit is pulled out you disconnect the most cable, plug in the t harness, plug the most cable back in, and run the ipod cable into the glovebox.

the big difference is that you need to take the vehicle in for SDS coding to turn on the aux input on the 221 (or code it yourself over CAN).
