S350 - what is this beast?
A friend of mine has a 2006 S350 that I would call a short wheel base. I asked the W220 guys on another forum and nobody replied. I think I know that they were only produced during the 2006 model year, and use the same 3.7L 241HP engine as MB did for a couple of years in the ML350. The main reason I'm asking is that there is one for sale nearby and I'd like to know some more about these. Lastly, the S350 is listed among this subforum's models.
Thanks in advance,
Mm

There even is an S280 for the W221 body. Actually two different models, these are using the 272.946 engine. The S280 is not available even in Europe except for a few countries.
The W220 S350 appears to use a 112.972 engine, quite a different car then. I didn't know this has been on sale in the US, even for a short period of time.

I'm pretty sure the car is a 221.054 or 221.154 model actually.
Good luck with the search!
EDIT: Just wanted to add that leg room in the back of the S350 is about the same as in the W211. And one annoying thing about the limited edition, end-of-model-life run is that all-season floor mats for the rears never seemed to have been shipped to the US (or so my local dealer said). So if you order all-season mats, the rear mats are about 5 inches too long.

here's the article regarding the S300 L for those who are interested. taken directly from MB malaysia.

It seems MB Indonesia want to sell what they imported/manufactured already, so when a customer wants a certain option(s) ordered, they will make it hard for you (ie. long delays, and various other reasons) and you will be "forced" to get one that already sitting in their storage.
I think Indonesia is pretty bad (if not worst) for vehicle individualization. Out there, even Toyota buyers can custom order their Camry, here? Mercedes customer is still having a hard time ordering options. Even the exterior and interior color combination is sometimes fixed, e.g if you choose color A, then you'd get beige int, if you choose color B, then you'd get black int.. and they would come up with a bunch of BS why you can't have color A with black interior
Well, if you customize your car in MBUSA, maybe some ext colors can't be matched with certain interior colors, but you can still have a choice..

its a dream! sad I can't choose just yet.
