I did it!! Silly me! Bought an S63 AMG
But I just had to

Just had to get that "hand built Naturally Aspirated 6.3 liter V8 AMG"... and boy does it ROCK! Wow! I had never driven an S63 AMG before this - wasn't expecting the engine to humm and purr like an Aston Martin DBS or Bently! Unbelievable sound from the engine even at idling.... I knew I was missing something

A few things that stand out in the 2009 S63 AMG:
- AMG speed shift 7-speed tranny with M-S-C modes
- AMG ABC - This is the most awesome thing about this car. Handles like a BMW 3-series - takes corners as if it's a Ferrari
- AMG 2-stage ESP
- AMG High performance compound dual braking system with sliding calipers! This car stops on a dime even going at 90 mph+

- AMG premium leather with alcantara headliner
- The window toggle switches have been changed from the flat style (that was difficult to feel) to the push/pull style.
- The seat memory buttons now beep when set so that you know it actually registered the setting (as opposed to the silent functioning in earlier models)
Here are some pics - will post some more later.

The window switches certainly needed the improved design. Can't really see how they overlooked this problem from the beginning.
Can you take a photo of the new switches ? I'm curious
Thanks

Really should test-drive some of the more expensive, alleged sportscars out there....try to do it next time you're in BeverlyHills...
Suspect you'll quickly realize why so many car guys who can afford any car in world choose to drive new S/CL600/63/65; keep buying new copies; and seem to think they represent rather fair values, despite the depreciation....

We all take those hits on cars, but when you forget about it and enjoy the hell out of the new one, then it's all worth it...
The alcantra adds a nice touch along with that awesome engine. 550's are getting more common especially with the used market increasing, but the number of 600's/63's and 65's are relatively rare. Enjoy!!

beautiful car. Amazing color combo. the steering wheel sort of looks, if i may say, boring. There is no way for wood leather steering in s63/65? Any who, as always, enjoy in great health my friend!
What is "Venture Shielding"?
. Surprised myself too. I really wanted an AMG and I figured the longer I waited the less "viable" my S550 would get. Sure, the depreciation is most in the first year, but at the same time the more miles you put on the harder it gets to sell. The low miles were a huge selling point and in fact the salesman told me that they typically sell a used 08 S550 w/P3/iPod/AMG kit for around $83,000 -which is what I got
. Still a pretty big hit compared to the $94,000 I paid 5 months back. BTW - 08 S550's are going for $13,000 off MSRP without any hagglingYes, that was a good fix for the 2009. If you pull the switch once the window rolls up and if you pull a second time the sun shades roll across.

Thanks. I get a lot of looks. On the drive back to Austin a couple of dudes tried to drag race. Of course I didn't oblige

Thats a great price on the S63! Mind if I ask what the MSRP? I only ask because I'm also in the market for an S63 and would love to know what kind of deals the dealers are giving out

After all the body work on my car is done, I'm going to get it done on my front bumper, headlights, hood (all of it), L/R side view mirrors, L/R front quarter panels, L/R side skirts, L/R Rear bottom panel, and rear deck. That may be overkill, but it's a must for at least your front bumper, part of your hood, and headlights.
