Newbie - help with pricing on 2008 s550

I've been looking at a s550 for a while. Never owned a Mercedes, but love them. Saw on this forum, some people getting 17k off list, and low financing rates (3.9%), this was back in July.

I currently can get a 2008 s550, listing for $105k (has P3 pkg. and AMG pkg), for about $15k off. The financing rate is 4.9%.

Can I do better than this on the price and financing rates? Thanks.

15k off is about right, if your lucky you may be able to get another one to two off but that'll probably be it. I personally think 15k off is a pretty sweet deal

Thanks. I think now is the time to pull the trigger.

Any thoughts on the 4.9% financing? Other posts have talked about as low as 3.9%.

I got 16k off in July, when corporate was offering 6k plus another 3k "conquest cash". So given the current 10k incentives, I would shoot for 17k or more off if I were you. 3.9% is pretty good considering the state of the credit markets. In July, there was no subsidized finance rate.

Is the 3.9% applicable to the S63 and S65 as well? What are the lease rates like?

Varies by state, but in CA, almost never makes sense to buy any car...

$0-down lease is far more efficient from a sales tax standpoint in CA and lease gap insurance may prove advantageous in any total loss from collision (or theft)

From a liability standpoint (esp post-collision litigation), many affluent guys prefer that MBF owns car

MBF lease terms are published monthly on leasing sub-forum

In Connecticut, at the local dealership that sells about 1500 mbs a year (New Country in Hartford), they inform me that leases are only about 30% of sales.

But leases are good for those who could not otherwise purchase a car

Sounds decent. Shop around a little more, just my thoughts....seen some for low 80's high 70's CPO with less than 10K miles on them.

I wonder what package the ones had for the low 80's. The MSRP on those particular vehicles may have only been 98k. With the vehicle he's looking at being 105k MSRP, I wouldthink if he can get it for 87k-88k he would be getting more than a fair deal.

Thats about right, 86k on one with an MSRP of 103K, so 87-88K would be nice for one with a MSRP of 105K. I just bought mine at an MSRP of 101,680 and mine was about 84.5k

We just bought our new 2008 s550 for 20k under msrp. At the end of August, House of Imports in Buena Park, CA had a few advertised at 20k under, and 4.9%

Ours has p3, sports pkg, and ipod options

We weren't really in the market for a new car, but the deal was too good to pass up.

Hope this helps

Thanks. That sounds very good deal. I don't know if that's possible in New Jersey, I can't get above $15k discount so far.

Any help would be appreciated.

Morristown MB has a new 08 S550 4-matic (with like couple hundred "demo" miles) for 20k off sticker if interested...otherwise I'd say go with Ray Catena they're the best dealership I've dealt with thus far...PM me if you want to get connected to my sales guy there
