Really? I got it from local dealership at that price. Do you have the link for Parts.com? I can't load up 2010 S-Class on Parts.com. It only can go as later as 2009 on the S-Class model.Originally Posted by jta00r1
FYI Parts.com sells that for 250.00
Just go to the left of the screen when in the Mercedes section and click on Multi-parts search and enter the part number you posted.

Yea, you need to get dealer to reprogram it for your specific car options. I did that with my car and couple of my friends. Or, you can just use your old SAM and rewire the taillight. You need to consult with some of the guys on this thread, I believe some have successfully done it.Originally Posted by famous550

Found it. Damn, should've bought it from parts.com then. Well, I paid $350 for it, the most I can take is $50 loss and the shipping cost. If anyone need it, let me know.Originally Posted by konigstiger

Only the bottom part lights up .. I'm all confused and don't know where to start from.
I can only give you my two options, 1a) is to look at the back of the taillights and jump the upper row wires to the bottom row, this works but the upper row will look slightly dimmer than the bottom and also throw a rear side marker light indicator. 1b) Use your lisence plate lights as a source to the upper row, which will make the upper row slightly brighter than the bottom row and still throw rear side marker indicator. 2) Ship it to kartoyz or another shop that has successfully got it to work and pay and arm and maybe a leg.

I got the taillights to work. It's actually quite simple. You just have to crosswire the top led to the bottom led

can you pm me. I just had the 2010 taillights installed and I am experiencing the top led shut off as you said. There is one guy in Miami who works on mb's and stated he cannot do it on 07 models. I explained to him about codif the 2010 Sam to a 2010 vehicle and then transposing it to my car and he stated that would not work. PLEASE help me since I'm stuck now after all this investment. If possible email me at jorgesandoval1123@gmail.com to further speak. Us this something the dealer will do??

Is it wiser to rewire the tail ligjts from the lower row or from the license plate wire? Any chance it can catch on fire? I know the con is the side marker error message coming on, can that lead to further problems?Originally Posted by jtanoyo1
I don't think wiring it to the license plate lights is a good idea. Different load I think, that's why it's much brighter.-Joko

After reading all the posts on updating the tail lights, I've decide to go with the "change the SAM option". I have NO idea how this programing/reprograming business works. Can other forum members please help with answers to some questions I have?Originally Posted by rayden33

I understand that in order to reprogram the new 2010 SAM it needs to be installed in a 2010 vehicle.
- How difficult is it to remove the existing SAM from a vehicle, install my SAM, then once reprogramed reverse these steps?
- Is the SAM a componenet which simply plugs in to some sort of wiring harness?
- Where is this SAM located?
- Is it as simple as selecting the tail light settings in a menu of options?
or - Does the entire car needs to be reprogramed? I am concerned that when reprograming the SAM, other settings might be affected in my vehicle as well as in the surrogate 2010 car.
I would like to be as prepared as possible for when I ask the technician to do the reprogramming. Any additional insight or details on the reprograming process will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your assistance.

'07s have different SAMs or SCN coding - so you get the errors.

FloridaMB,
I just went through the whole process right now, i got my car back this saturday. I spoken to serge via phone and he was very helpful in giving me several pointers in how to go about this. I'll tell you 2 routes you can take.
1. Buy the SAM ( I can refer you to my friend in coral gables MB and you can get it for about $350-he gives me a discount). Then either I or serge can link you up w his tech guy to program your SAM ($300 he told me) in Cali and then you have to get someone here in Miami to link it up to your CANbus. I couldn't find anyone so I went the second route that everyone mentioned.
2. Crosswire the lower LED row to the top row. All people discoverednproblems with the top wire being dimmer BUT I'm assuming that is you do it yourself, which isn't too difficult. I wish I was mechanically inclined to do all that but I'm not. If your a local to Miami you ivenimagined you've heard of Miami Chassis. When it comes to high end cars this is the place. They did the crossnwiring w resistors and the whole 9 yards. Most importantly most pol got an error message and since MCA did it properly I get no error message. $400 w them. If $ is not an issue get the Sam and al in Cali to program it ($650 more or less) n then you have to pay someone to marry your new Sam to the can bus. Don't know how much that is. I spoke to mca and the owner said he can complete the job in 2 days...if serge doesn't get back to you and you want his techs number pm me or w/b & I'll give u the # or I can give you MCA's number

The SAM itself will turn on the tail light correctly, but then you have to have a dealership to program the SAM to fit with you car option. I don't think you can just send the SAM to someone to get it flashed with 2010 car then plug it in to your car, since your car might have different option than the car that being used to program the SAM.
Without programming, you will loose your fuel gauge, power trunk opener, turn signals, and some more other option, don't remember exactly.
When I did mine, I brought it to MB dealer and paid $300 to get it programmed specifically to my car option. So, I pretty much installed the new SAM, bring the car to the dealer to program. Not all dealership willing to do this, so I told them that I have issue with the car where some of the options doesn't work (playing it stupid). They bought it.

Also, as far for the SAM, I have 1 extra that I want to sell (read my post in this thread also), I can sell it to you for $300 + shipping via USPS Priority mail to anywhere in the US.
