2012 S600 Lunar Blue
service D

I'm new to Mercedes. Have a 07 S600 with 24K. Display is flashing Service D. What is a service D. Should I notify my Cardio doctor before I call about this?
Thanks,
Joe

Every service not under warranty from the Dealership requires heart medication.

If it is not covered by warranty, you don't have to take it to MB. I'd take it to a MB/ASE trained independent shop...you get same or better service at a lower price point.

My indie is run and operated by several MB master technicians who got tired of MB's BS and started their own shop a block away from the dealership. It SEEMS the dealership is where MB techs train and the indies are where the most knowledgeable wrenches end up.

Slightly off topic, but does anyone know of such a shop in Los Angeles, either Hollywood area or Santa Monica?

An independent shop typically charges half compared to an MB Dealer. Just make sure they use MB parts and approved synthetic oils.

+1...make sure they mark off your owners manual and keep all receipts. I just keep all receipts and job descriptions in my owner manual binder.

Sorry to hear that...I've been lucky to find a competent indie.

Isn't service D almost the same as service B with few other things that they just "check" and charge you alot to really replace??

And some dealer techs are terrible. It took me four trips to fix some problems on my '07 S550. Some were updates (command- which I gave the SA the full instruction manual on how to do it and after four tries they successfully accomplished it), some were problems. It took me several tries to convince the head tech moron at Massapequa MB that my A/C was not working. He insisted that since it was blowing air it was working. He did not understand the concept of COLD air. And to think he was the head tech. Some of these guys should not even be allowed to flip burgers.

I have had very good luck with local indies who I trust, they are much cheaper and actually want to SOLVE a problem, not just get the car out of the bay...
