I have a W221 key with a broken button(see picture below) and i am thinking of swapping it with a new shell that i found from ebay:

Let me describe a bit of my key. My 2007 W221 key does not have panic button. However, what they sold on ebay is all with panic button. Will it fit? i understand if it fits, the panic button will be useless and i can take it. but i need all three other buttons to be at work.

Also, do you guys know if there's a manual book on how to swap from old key to new shell key? I totally have no idea on how to swap the old shell to new one.

Not sure on this... I never knew you could replace just the case... Thought the chip was built in...

I have seen many picture of people swapping from old key to chrome version. My case is, i want to swap from chrome version to chrome version(same).i am no technician or electrician. So, i dont know how to solder anything. do i need any soldering if mine is already chrome version swapping to another chrome version? do you have any detail guide to it?

Also, my key is without panic button. will it fit to the one with panic button(although i know the panic button would be useless since mine does not have panic button in the first place)?

Please help.

Chrome to chrome is a 30 second swap. I have never seen a key with no panic button but if you post a picture I could probably tell. Worst case scenario you can just sell the other case.

 

just buy a new s550

Hi, JonMBZ can you tell me how it takes 30secs to swap chrome key housing.
I know how to get the battery out but i cannot see how to get the circuit board out.

Just an update to this thread, i purchased a "new" used remote from ebay and changed mine over.
It takes about 1 minute to do, i took the ebay remote apart first so i did not break mine as all i needed was the shell.
You will need some needle nose pliers to remove the circuit board from the remote, take great care in doing this!
Everything comes out on the circuit board and you are left with an empty shell.
I will try and post some pictures asap to help others.

If you scroll up you'll find the info. Why don't you change the whole case instead of membrane?

 

Hi, can anyone help me, my car will open with the remote key fob, but will not turn on ignition lights or start the car, it started last night, when steering was locked, but came right again, but I have had no luck all day today...... Help I have to get to work tomorrow.....

 

Do you have Keyless Go?

If yes, pull the infrared "plug" from the ignition and insert your regular key. Try starting.

If no keyless, when did you last change the two batteries in the key fob?
