I bought this type of rims:
Specifications:
Size: 20x8.5 Front / 20x9.5 Rear
Bolt Pattern: 5x112
Finish:Forged gun powder Face
Offset: 35 Front / 35 Rear
Hubcentric: 66.6
Original AMG says that these tyres must go front 255/35R20 rear 275/30R20 but i want to know can i put wider tyres without any rubbing or speedo/ESP problems?

i have 285 30 20 which is in spec but i also have a w220 and the same fronts as you ( 255 235 20 )
I`ve got AMG 8,5x20 front and 9,5x20 rear -- tires 255/35 and 275/35 as per OEM on my -07 S550. I think this OEM setup works flawlessly for driving.
I am soon to replace tires and found that the widest tire this 8,5 front rim will take is 255, so i am leaving this at the 255/35.
But i do think it looks a bit weird with this low sidewall tire in the front as the rears are a bit higher.
Found out that the rear 9,5 can take an 285/30-20 so i am considering a more similar height sidewall using this 285/30.
I don`t want to jeopardize the way the car feels like on the road, especially in the the twisties. So I am curious if it will induce any noticeable tendency towards understeer using this lower sidewall & greater width tire at the rear when mounted on the same wheel width --
Though - the 9,5 is the narrowest wheel this 285/30 can be mounted on and this may counterbalance any tendency to more understeer somewhat because of the little more bulging sidewall generating a bit more "give" sideways.
Hmmm...come to think about it - it may not look nice with that "bulge" at the rears, so maybe best leaving it at the OEM dimensions afterall....but the greater width will for sure give it a better rearview look..
Anybody who have tried this tire combo on this OEM wheel dimensions and can give any advice about looks and the driving feel ?
Thanks Jason - nice car on those pictures :-)
I believe the guys at the MB factory know very well what they are doing and recommending this setup for a reason.
As for tires i had the Michelin AS3`s on my now sold S320 (w220) and i must say that they are - hands down - maybe the best tires i have driven on, all things considered.
So when my Dunlop Direzza D102`s are gone i will treat myself with buying the new Michelin AS3 + for my S550.
On my Porsche 928 S4 i have Conti DSW and are to some extent pleased with them, but they are a bit to "mushy" for a heavy sports car.
On my w124 E280T i have the Hankook Noble 2 and are pleased with them also --- but i am biased to the AS3`s
We have lots of bad roads here and with lots of turns and nothing beats the Michelin AS3`s. As an extra plus they lowered the fuel consumtion by approx 0,7 dl pr 10 km compared to the Conti DW Extreme which was so unstable that I sometimes thought my wheels had come loose. They were a nightmare to drive as one had to correct the cars line constantly - in heavy crosswinds they were almost shockingly unstable.

good day :-
regarding the tyres width you have to check the mercedes Wheels and tires charters to be safe Also you can check the Fuel tank door the will mention to you if you can go for wider specially AMG car are different in the wheels and types size because the measurement is big issue that why you have to check the wheels and tires charters, the same thing i went through the every show the same but the car out of safety … check tire and wheels charters
