Possible to get extended dealer warranty on 2007/2008's?
Currently driving an 04 Lexus LS430 and thinking of maybe getting an 07+ S550. I know with my LS430, i was able to get a Lexus Platinum Extended Warranty (covers pretty much everything), when I purchased the car in 2009 which covers the car until 110k miles and up to another 4 years. It cost me a little under $3k, and it's already paid for itself in maintenance and repairs.
So being a big Mercedes newbie, is there something like this available? If there are threads specifically dedicated to this, please link?

Find a CPO and pay to extend that to the maximum time/miles. The way it used to work is the car had to fall within the new car warranty or CPO period to extend it with MBUSA. That what I did for my E-Class and mine paid for itself too.

To get a MB warranty from a MB dealer the car has to be within 4 years of the in-service date and with less than 50,000 miles. In other words the car still has to be in factory warranty. There are terms up to three years and various miles. Some dealers will discount and some states charges a sales tax. I live in Florida and got a better price by getting a policy from a Texas MB dealer by making a phone call.
A dealer or other vendors, some on the forum, can sell an aftermarket warranty if you want to go that way.

You can buy a car either CPO from any MBZ dealer or non CPO under factory warranty from any dealer(not MBZ) and get extended warranty.I have to warn you only with one thing,DO NOT get a car from MBZ dealer without CPO,if you do and even it's under factory warranty, you cannot get Mercedes original extended warranty from any dealer.

If you buy a non CPO car from authorized MB dealer you cannot get extended warranty for that car, even if that car has a remaining factory warranty leftover.

When you buy a non-CPO used car from MB dealer and even it has a remaining factory warranty they not wish to sell a extended warranty for that car.Their assumption is that it didn't pass the CPO qualification tests and the MB dealer sold it without certification.

I have over 700 MB owners, many of them AMG, warranted through the company I represent, NAC. Their Pinnacle coverage is better than CPO, and depending on the car's mileage the terms offered may be longer as well.
If you'd like a quote just email me a VIN# and odometer reading.
Thanks!

I just added 3 years upto 135,000 miles on my 07 S550 thru my dealer. I don't trust any warranty unless it comes from a dealership. Those aftermarket warranty companies are def not to be trusted in my eyes. Half of them can't be found after 6 months and are scams!

lexus, in my mind, has a better reliability ranking (I think it is the top in the US?) than MB. The 2007 S is the first year of the new S, so it may have some issue waited to be fixed. I have a 2007 S550, I bought it from new, I baby it during the break in period, so it should have better performance in the future. In 4 years, it doesn't have any major issue.
But since you are considering an used one, be careful since wether it is CPO or not, you probably will get a leased S. If you yourself lease a car, and you know you are gonna return it at the end of lease, will you treat it as your own car? No!. So the S you get may have potential problem since it had a bad break in period.
Bottom line is, if you really want an S, then at least get a 2008. If possible, get a non-leased S.

These cars are nice but they must frustrating aspect is the incompetence of dealerships in fixing these problems. I dont know many recent S that are driving beyond 100,000 miles due to the numerous cost of maintenance and issues. If you can avoid owning one save your self the money and headache.

4 wheeled car.
I just called Direct Buy Warranty today. Well rather, I filled out a quote request online, and they called me.
They offered the following:
4 year/100k miles (to add on top of your current mileage, so in my case, warrant up to 151K miles or 4 yrs, whichever comes first).
$50 deductible.
Bumper to bumper with some exclusions such as wear and tear items. They do NOT cover the struts, which on the ABC/Airmatic cars like the W221 really is a downside.
Allegedly, no maximum payouts.
Price, $2790, $350 down, 18 $136 monthly payments.
OR $2390 in one lump sum.
Thoughts?
I know NOTHING about Direct Buy Auto Warranty. I was just googling Chrysler Service Contract to get the number, and this popped up as a sponsored hit.
Discuss.

Forget Direct Buy. I just did some online research and I cannot find one positive review.
Thus far, from my personal experience, only Chrysler Service Contracts are top notch.
