Heated steering wheel retrofit s550?

Want to add a heated steering wheel to my 2008 s550. Right now I have non heated standard leather steering wheel. Want wood heated all oem.

Wood steering wheel heated from factory
Heated steering wheel stalk

Anything else needed? This something that can be done?

I just read a review that says this:

"The only thing that felt like a tacked-on afterthought was the optional heated steering wheel. Mercedes puts a wooden steering wheel in the S-Class, but if you get it, only the two leather swatches on the outside of the wheel will heat up. To warm your digits, you’ve got to keep your hands on the leather at exactly 3 and 9 o’clock – a position that I don’t find comfortable."

That's not good.

Thats absurd.

How do they not offer a heated steering wheel????

Really now. I am up in Boston with an S550 and no heated steering wheel. Makes no sense.

As an aside, they need to be GREAT heated steering wheels. After all, this is Mercedes.

Your disription of them at this time, is not all that good.

You certainly can have a heated steering wheel in an S-class. Mine has it. I live where we get an actual winter, and I wouldn't buy a car without bun warmers and a heated wheel. That said, the S600 wheel is mostly wood with leather wrapped portions at 3 & 9. Those leather wrapped portions are the only heated parts. It would be a significant challenge, I believe, to effectively heat the wood part without causing other problems. It's less than perfect, but it is what it is. For what it's worth, my wife's Volvo has a heated steering wheel... it's padded (and heated) almost all the way around, other than a couple of spots where I often hold it when driving on the highway, and those parts remain ice cold.

Just get one of these.

that's not an accurate view of an S class - you can still see the top of the speedo face, which is impossible for grown ups on a W221
