2007 S550 Central gateway failure (Defect)
My S550 has an issue where the central gateway control module causes the vehicle to shut off when am driving and all the electrical and electronic components shuts down also including the headlight and the vehicle comes on by itself after a second. My MB dealer has worked on this problem over 6 times with no fix, MBUSA has been working on the vehicle for over a year and even brought a technical specialist that has been working on this vehicle and the specialist confirmed that my gateway was incorrectly coded and that all gateways from MBUSA from my vehicle are incorrectly coded. Does anyone have this similar problem, this is a defect in the vehicle and maybe this could be a class action lawsuit. I find it hard to believe that this is a vehicle defect. The idea of a class action is without merit. Your vehicle was manufactured over six years ago. I find it hard to believe that it could that all gateways from MBUSA from your vehicle were incorrectly coded at the time of vehicle manufacture and did not exhibit any significant faulty behavior until recently. MBUSA was not involved in the installation or original coding of the units in your vehicle which was manufactured in Germany. MBUSA might have been involved in providing a replacement part to your dealer.
If they are in fact incorrectly coded, then the coding error must have been introduced recently, possibly the previous visit to a dealer prior to the start of your problems. I believe the only way to change the coding with the units in your vehicle is by using a Mercedes DAS setup.

To my opinion you should find a different MB-dealer, this one is clearly incompetent in resolving the issue..
I would personally contact MB Customer-Service US and explain the whe situation in a short polite but very clear email or phone call, what 's been going on.
Knowing MB they will definately respond accurately,to resolve the issue..
Another thing to know ,would be ,wether your car has ever been a swimmer ( been flooded) ???
