I'm sure all of you know this already and have seen it mentioned before but I just have to bring it up again.

I've been using a PCMCIA adapter with 16gb SD card which works great btw.

I was going through my things and found an old ipod stash away so I figured I'd get it hooked up. It picked up much faster than the SD card BUT...

No control on the command except for the dash and from the steering wheel.

You can list folders or do any true browsing on the ipod.

So you can only put your favorite songs on the ipod or else you'll be doing a lot of skipping.

A Mercedes obviously!
Considering how MB are on the forefront of proprietary technology it does stagger me how useless they are when it comes to incorporating something almost universal like an iPod into an S Class. Even Kias costing 10% of the S Class come with this stuff as plug and play.

You nailed it right on the head... my friend's 2008 IS350 has better ipod/Bluetooth integration than ours which is very shameful.

You do know you can control the ipod in the instrument cluster using the buttons on the right of the steering wheel ( select artist, album, playlist, etc ) ?

Was it a 2008 Kia as well?

My MY2010 S550 has absolutely no issues with controlling an iPod/iPhone through COMAND, it is just as easy as any other music source.

Reminds of when I had my 94 Acura Legend. I wrecked it looking for a place to put my can of Coke. No cupholder!!
