2009 S550 Any Concerns?

It's due for a transmission service if it hasn't had one already. Other than that, it's a complicated car with a lot of unique (and expensive) systems, and any number of them may come back to bite you. Some owners experiences are relatively trouble free, others have multiple four-figure horror stories. Did you get an aftermarket warranty?

Hi Mike, thanks, I have a schedule to service the transmission; I have 12 quotes for aftermarket warranties and to be honest I'm having a hard time with all of them, from $3,500 to $8,500 plus all the horror stories that I have read about almost all of them, so right now she sits "As Is"

Took the car today to my new mechanic, a friend of mine and former Master Tech for Mercedes Benz, we plugged the computer and reviewed the entire vehicle history, pretty cool to be able to see everything that had happen to the car, from low washer fluid to changing a light bulb. Nevertheless she passed
with flying colors, so I'm happy!

Great news. Most of these cars were well maintained (no surprise given their price) but it's good to see it in print. Unfortunately past issues (or the lack thereof) have no bearing on the potential for future issues, so my experience has been not to be lulled into skipping the warranty.

2014 S550 4Matic, 1992 Corvette LT1, 2008 Toyota Sequoia, 2019 Jeep Wrngler, 1997 Lincoln Town Car
I've had my '09 S550 for 2.5 years now. Bought it CPO from MB Manhattan with 20k on it...70k on it now. Also bought the extended warranty from the dealer. Other than some minor issues and trans mounts being replaced the car has been running fine. All my service is done by MB Manhattan.
My only regret is not purchasing the tire/rim insurance. I didnt realize how easy it is to bend a 19inch rim and blow a tire on potholes. I blew out 2 tires on the right hand side and bent both rims beyond repair on a pothole on route 78W just past Newark Airport.
Next time I buy the the tire insurance too!
