2007 W221 S600 exhaust piping questions!

So I went ahead and deleted the mufflers on my 2007 s600 and kept everything else stock (by the way it is AMAZING and literally no drone at any speeds), but I'm curious as to what the other things were under the car while it was lifted!

So apparently these cars come stock with an x-pipe already (which I thought should have been a large resonator) and two separate smaller resonators (please see attached pictures).

I think I will keep the x-pipe as-is because well the plan was to remove the resonator and put an x-pipe in (as I did on my 2007 e550) but hey its already there

Now as for the two single resonators, I would like to perhaps replace those with either a straight pipe OR another x-pipe(?), is it even possible to do that? because the spacing looks a bit off, but from researching the forums I keep reading that people are saying to remove the resonators and replacing with an x-pipe but I just don't see how it would fit, or is the muffler man able to kind-of squish the pipes in a little closer to connect the x-pipe?

Any input would help! Thank you! I have attached the photos regarding what I'm talking about!

Removing them amall resonators will not do anything. Infact, you will have weird popping noise when you let off the gas.

The best thing to do is, remove the cats that you see from the very front of the pipes. There are o2 sensors plugged in them, so use o2 similators (o2 spacers, aka J-bong), you will not have CEL, and probably gain tremendous amount of power!

Thats what i am doing to my 2012 s550 which also has two turbos! ;-)

Hi again guys, Is the thing in picture #3 the SECONDARY cats for this car?? Meaning there are NO 02 sensors inside that right?? I can go ahead and remove these and replace it with either a x-pipe or straight pipes right?

The primary cats should be the ones that carry the 02 sensors but those are even further up then the thing in the picture #3 correct?

My next mod is to replace the 2ndary cats and just want to make sure that they are in fact in picture #3...

Thanks guys!

Depends on the weather
There are no o2 sensors at the location in pic#3. If you run straight pipe from the 2 cats coming off the turbos straight back, that thing is going to be LOUD.

Please post a video of the before and after. I currently have the muffler delete and love it, but the sound of the V12 gets me everytime and I can only imagine with the CATS gone..

I like the exotic sound vs. the muscle car sound for this car...I don't know if anyone has got he sound right for the V12 yet but can't wait to hear it. I love the muffler delete though.

Hi just left the exhaust shop. So I was right in my original post, the thing in picture #3 is in fact the factory x-pipe. There are NO SECONDARY CATS for this vehicle! It goes tips -> mufflers -> bullet resonators -> x-pipe -> primary cats -> turbos.

Next step is to find a set of DOWNPIPES! WOOHOO!

You will have primary and secondary cats however they are housed in one large unit. When you do the downpipes both will go. I installed a 200cell sport cat to replace the 4 stock ones.
