airmatic question
Hi guys,
I have 2010 s550, 40 k miles. The compressor seems noisy when starting cold, then goes away after 45 seconds or so. Also happens when raising the car level manually ( by pushing the button ). The suscpension seems to work fine, the car raises and lowers as it should. Is this an expected noise or does it mean that the compressor is about to fail?
Thanks!

Shouldn't be any audible sound in the cabin from the compressor. It's an S Class for cryin' out loud! It may be an early sign of trouble. As long as you're not getting warnings and the car raises and lowers normally I guess it depends on how noisy it is and whether or not you can live with it. Is there a warranty?

Turn your wheel to the right and pull the plastic liner back. Hit the raise button and look into it. Maybe one of the 3 bolts and springs that support is is missing or not secure.

If you end up deciding to replace it, its a not so bad DIY. Only warning is if you live where they use alot of road salt buy a new bracket because the nuts holding the pump on the bracket tend to shear off
