Did brakes and gave it a bath
Did the fronts today, pretty easy to do. Got the Stoptec Disks and Uka something pads that are supposed to get rid of some of the brake dust. My wheels suck for brake dust. Also bled and flushed all for corners as the shop said I was due for a fluid flush. Should be good to go now, the new pads work real nice although they still need to bed. Also gave it a bath.

What are those little badges on the fenders?

I will probably just drive it as I normally do. Badges where there when I bought it. They say "Blue Efficiency" Not sure what that means as my car sucks gas like a 10 buck *****.

Those blue efficiency badges, although stupid looking on an S550, are probably good at disguising the output of that motor for unsuspecting boy racer types who think their Acura TL is the shizzle. Perhaps I should rip off my V12 and S600 badges, then replace them with S350 and blue efficiency badges and freak out some unsuspecting Mustang GT and Corvette drivers.

about gas mileage I drove from my home in Macon Ga. to Panama City Fla. on a half tank of gas, average speed 75 mph. I cked this on return trip. filled up on front beach rd. in panama city, drove home 4 hrs 40 min. later arrived home with a half tank of gas. one way 348 miles. I think that is pretty good for a full size lux car.

That's because you have a small oil burning V6. The turbo'd V8 will get a little more than half that. I never seen more than 320 miles on a tank in mine....although it's never been on a road trip since I've had it. Perhaps I could push to 400 miles on a tank if I kept it at a smooth 65 mph on a long flat straight stretch of road.

Don't forget the Flex Fuel E85 badge on your badge redo.

Just an update on the Akebono pads. After 5 days of driving around with these new brakes, they work as good as the factory set up but there is absolutely no brake dust with these pads. Huge difference in cleaning the wheels.

My experiences with less dusty non-stock pads on various cars have always shown that braking distances on dry roads under hard braking are a little longer. And in wet conditions, they have quite a bit less bite and stopping distances can increase pretty dramatically. As long as you account for this by allowing more distance from the car ahead of you in traffic when it's raining or snowing, you should be good to go.

Hmmm, going into the prohibited menu and altering the speed limiter setting, then my oil burner will hit speeds just like its European brothers and sisters. Hmmm, I wonder what those speeds actually are?

and notice, unlike the S550s and the S600s, when cruising to and at these speeds, the fuel gauges did not do any dramatic movements! Love that Blue Efficiency
