2007 s550 AMG package
Problem with my transmission, maybe, PLEASE HELP ME!

Hello everyone, I have a 2007 s550 with AMG package. The car has about 70k miles. Recently after coming from a short trip, the car started to have this problem. While it's in drive, you would press the gas but not going. The engine is reving, but it's as if you had it on N. so when it started to happen, it would happen every few days. Then it happened every day like once a day. Then it happened like every few hours and then now, you turn on car while cold and the car only goes for like one block and then stops. Brought it in to the dealership and after doing multiple diagnostic tests and all the bull, the mechanic just told me ya we need a new trans, 9k lol. Then brought it to this transmission place and they said that he's not getting any codes and don't know the problem. So I really really need help because I don't know what to do!

thank you all for your help in advance

MB dealer should have listed generalization as to why they recommend transmission replacement on invoice in addition, have them provide fault codes.

The early w221's are prone to premature transmission failure. There are a few threads about people with the same model year and having similar issues. The final outcome was that the car has a defective valve body. MB finds it easier just to do a transmission swap. My understanding is that you can replace the valve body. There are shops that will do it but, the car won't be driveable until it's coded at the dealer. I think you would be looking at $3500 for all of that work. You stated your Indy said there weren't any codes. Chances are your Indy isn't using STAR.

Looks like valve body needs replacement, intermittent limp mode. Check connecting cable if fine, MB offered remanufactured part 0002702600 however it has since been discontinued Google part # for alternatives.
