Mine says car device with a different icon.... does any one know if there is a way to rename icons? I already know how to move them around & place them in different spots?????

It is currently at no 6. It is the only config number that gives correct resolution/colors. Only that the menu at left is a bit too big.
Some of the other config numbers actually get the Comand screen correctly alligned with no overlay, but with horrible colors and resolution. And some other config numbers just hangs the system without Comand picture at all.

Oh yeah definitely different versions. Close, but I guess there is a new firmware floating around. I'll see if I can get it from the Chinese. If not, we may have to do a dump of the newest firmware from whoever has it

Ok got the latest version of the ROM if anyone needs it. It's 2018-10-29. I'll go through the upgrade and report back if it works or if it sets the car on fire.

Who makes these units, is there a webpage, is it one producer or more, and if more are they all the same anyway? I seem to remember having seen two different connector setups on the rear of the screens but I might be wrong.

Ok update complete. It's now visually similar to the version paalw has. I can finally switch the widget to the traction control widget. There are some graphical differences here and there but I am not sure what else is different. Everything else worked fine before with the exception of the widget. I have no issues with the resolution of the original comand like paalw.
I did a full rom flash and then a can upgrade as well...so 2 different processes. Also the update wipes out the data partition as well so you have to start from scratch.

Hi all
Was there any update on a RHD version?
Such a shame, but theres LOADS of these in the UK that would give a big potential audience.

The update upgrades android from 7 to 8 (though it's still really android 6)....changes some of the icon names, makes the status bar auto hide (which is annoying) and allows for the traction control widget. That's all I've noticed so far.

I got both from the Chinese reseller. You have to put it on an SD card and it updates when it reboots. The CAN update you can run from one of the many hidden settings menus.

What you say about Android versions, could you please elaborate? Doesn't make sense to me, who is not familiar in the Android version world.

Ok, to clarify, the bar at the top of the screen auto hides itself after a few seconds. Gives more screen real estate, but is annoying if you don't have a physical controller like me. You have to swipe down from the top of the screen to get it to show again. This was not the case with the older firmware.
In terms of Android versions, I was referring to the security patch level which is 2016, aka Android 6. The actual Android version is 8.1.
Yes I can host the file easily. PM with email address so I can add you.
