Night view assist inoperative
Just purchased a 2008 s63 with nightvision and have been getting this message when hitting the night vision button. This is with standard non facelift headlamps. What would typically cause this?

I don’t even get a message on the screen like this guy mentioned. Do you think it could be a fuse? I also don’t get any message for my headlight washer. Both the windows and the headlight washer are not working or responding at all.i used a diagnostic tool it just says
EVERYTHING on a German car is a cost option
And retrofitting is a nightmare as the accountants didn't just delete the toys - he deleted the wiring from the looms and used budget control modules that often can't operate the features
When you use a chassis decode tool the good ones remain looking at vehicle records and when toys are correctly added - the option added later in the car's life, also turn up on the good decode tools
A good reason to look at the info on these tools is to help you know what was officially added to the car - and what might be a dodgy add-on or after-market junk
FYI night view assist is an utter waste of space

the screen is out of your view - its not even in any sensible peripheral view - it MIGHT help if used as a dedicated passenger assist thing otherwise far more dangerous than looking where you are going
you are well aware its only operates in the dark ? - cover the RLS (light sensor at the top middle of the front screen and it should come on in the day time)
have seen the odd person say it plays up - you'll have to go round the houses to check it out - but with the other bugs you have I suspect puddles under the front carpets or in SAM modules

it is quite normal this has flooded and the board is destroyed - the ONLY way to tell is to remove it and look inside at the circuit board
Having 221 is a hobby (/ nightmare) - every week major work - something about the way the software doesn't want to behave alongside every other competent being engineered to die
Re buying a Merc seems Australians weren't as stupid as the rest of us - but its OK I see V8 supercars is now just foreign rubbish
looking for something else I just came across the later module ( HW from 2010 - $1080 new) for $36 on ebay - now to fight its failure to behave - it might highlight obstacles (standing pedestrians and cyclists) that the early one doesn't bother to mention
