BAS, ESP, ABS, AC Blower, Engine Fan, mirror controls, front locks, soft close BROKEN

W221 S550

BAS, ESP, ABS unavailable, AC Blower, Engine Fan, mirror controls, front locks, soft close are all not working. Can't take it to a mechanic coz it overheats due to no fan. Checked all the fuses in all 4 fuse boxes. Please help. *Note: Dumbass mechanic once plugged in battery with reversed terminals. Could it be one of the SAM units? If so, which one.

Thanks.

Flatbed tow to reputable shop, get estimate of repairs, get incompetent mechanic to pay for it? Just a thought.

Model year? By all fuse boxes were front pre-fuse & power supply included. All fine, given your situation you have no choice but to get dealer involved for tow & to pull fault codes.

Never mind. found it. all the fuses are good. just lost rear driver side soft close and lock, this was good before. also lost radio which was fine. it seems like im losing all electronics slowly. all fuses are good.

It could certainly be the front SAM. Did the polarity reversal happen immediately before the onset of symptoms? If not, it's probably unrelated.

Yep. pretty much immediately. I hear the SAM needs to be programmed by the dealer when replaced. Is there an alternative way where I dont have to get the dealer involved? Thanks for all the help by the way guys. really appreciate it.

You'll need a dealer or an indie with the ability to do the coding. If you can find a competent tinkerer it's worth pulling the SAM and opening it up. There are some high-current fuses (100A and so) that are replaceable if you know what you're doing. The dealer won't sell these fuses but they're fairly standard industrial parts. With luck, it could be something like this:

On the other hand, the PC board can be fried.

You might want to unplug the engine fan and temporary wire it to the battery to eliminate the overheating issues on your drive to the indie shop.
