question about TPMS. some doubts I have.

Hello family, how are you? I hope that very good. Technical question about tire pressure sensors. my car s500 w 221 late 2005 european version has code 477 on the data card and the tire pressure option appears on the instrument panel. now here comes my doubt when I give that option it only lets me reset the tire pressure. I do not get the drawing of the car with the pressure of the four tires. I have looked at the rims and I realize that it does not have the sensors on the rims, apparently the former owner put 20-inch non-original Mercedes rims and did not put the sensors. I don't know why he didn't put them. now the question is. if I buy the pressure sensors at the mercedes dealer, it's just putting them on each tire and that's it ??? or do I have to do some coding in Xentry/das. and the other question. I can put the sensors on my rims even if they are not original Mercedes. I would appreciate your help and advice. I'm a bit lost on this topic. I have also read that there are two frequencies, 315 and 433. I think that for the year of my car it is 315, I am not very clear. if you can help me to understand this topic. thank you very much a. I greet very strongly. I attached photos of my tires.

Don't buy the sensors from the dealer unless you like paying more money than you need to.

Option code 475 is "tyre pressure control". This one has the wheel sensors. 477 is "tyre pressure loss warner". This one works with ABS sensors. Cannot remember well but the cluster menu is likely only for initialisation.

Diésel Benz friend

thanks for the clarification. he did not know how this system worked. I thought my tires were missing the sensors. So I understand that you don't have them. but I have the question of how this system really works in my car???? For example, when a tire is punctured or I have a tire with low pressure, this system warns me in some way? or not ???? I would like to know that and how it actually works. once again a million thanks. regards

EPC shows your vehicle is equipped with passive system, if a tire is slightly deflated it will be detected by the ABS as it will do more turns (slightly smaller circumference) no sensors in the wheels. In USA market your vehicle would be 2007, here is USA 07 manual reference:

if you have the ABS sensor driven set up - now and then for different brands / wear / tyre sizes, you need to refresh its datum

on many cars there is a procedure where you should correct the tyre pressures, then find the menus on the cluster and instigate an update to the cars reference point - usually a 1/2mile steady in a straight line on smooth roads at circa 20 to 40mph - it allows the car to get a good reference for the rotation of each wheel and store this as a correctly inflated set of tyres.

BOTUS Brother

thank you very much for the information. a greeting.
