Hydraulic valve lifter, M278 - question ❓

I have an annoying ticking hydraulic from one valve lifter and think I will replace them.

Can someone help me link where I can buy a complete set (no China products) - and very much preferably in Europe.

I have read that you can advantageously use lifters from the AMG Black Series - what does the panel think about this? Is there anything else I should be aware of?

Car data: S500 4 Matic - 2011 - M278 - 400,000 km.,

Thanks for the response.

change the engine oil to the later spec - it will likely magically vanish

as sold in costco castrol M not their earlier lower LL spec - Merc has the info on their recco code for this product, I have posted it before can't be bothered to look it up yet AGAIN

Hi. Thanks for your reply, I've found in the spring, a similar answer from you in another thread. I've had tried the olie specs that you mentioned, but unfortunately the tikking was only reduced, but still present. Then olie temperatur reach > 97° the tikking almost disappear, but .......

well I did see your mileage at 400k if it was thrashed from cold, stretched to service limits and used naff oil its had its life three fold already - the last thing I'd be doing is bothering with any mechanical work

today cars are designed to just reach the 4 years lease timeline then you throw them in a skip

LOL - I've owned the car from new, full service history from MB, + 15 bar at all 8 cylinder's, olie change by every 12.500 km.

one issue is chauffeur driven cars - whilst the bod being driven is busy ruining the world - the driver sits idling for hours on end, and wears out the camshafts. Idling is terrible for parts with very high loading, as the time scraping off the oil and damaging things is huge

on a lot of modern cars its not the hydraulic part of a lifter that lets you down - its the case hardened surfaces of the cam and the cam bucket / lifter - 4 cams and 32 lifters plus labour - plus oil leaks, plus maybe snapping the cam cover in haklf - (caused by jacking the car up via the cam cover over night !!! after using a heat gun does nothing to release it) MIGHT cost more than a replacement car....

It's not the problem there. I've been driving in the car for 400.000 most at the backseat, from Budapest, Zagreb to Vienna ≈ 90% high gear motorway. Mercedes made a huge inspection, boroscope checking af 390.000 km and concluded that the engine was in a extremely good condition. I want to change the hydraulic lifters, tappets as mentioned above - just wanted details about there in the European Union I can get a complete set. Good evening and enjoy the weekend.
