Need some help locating power steering part

Guys-

hey I am trying to locate a few mounting isolators for the electric power steering pump.

the guy I bought it from nailed a rock and I was inspecting stuff right behind the bumper and noticed one of the isolator bolts was torn. I want to keep it secure with a few new ones.

Circles in red-

does anyone know if these things are available?

2012 W221 s550 4matic

thanks in advance.

I agree that it can be very hard to find parts in the EPC sometimes but this one is listed right where you expect it, under
Group: Steering
Subgroup: Power steering pump
Number 480

depends on the set up - you used to get decent electro-hydraulic PAS, which works and feels like it should (its the bit in the picture above)
then the accountants decided a windscreen wiper motor and horrid feeling was cheaper....

very few cars get a hydraulic based set up these days - even Porsche get crap these days

I'll take EPS over hydraulic any day, especially on an older car. No pump to leak. No rack to leak No hoses to leak or replace. No belt to replace. No belt tensioner to deal with. No loss of assist if car stalls.

sure - its always best to fit systems that play up far more often and instead if simple proven tech that worked almost without issue on 9 out of 10 cars for 50 plus years - now we get huge errors, costs and aggro on a yearly basis

e class fun - The S213 electric steering rack can fail for a variety of different reasons.

There can be an internal electrical failure- of the control module that will case the eps to fail and the steering failure message to illuminate on the dash. The module will often not communicate with a scanner to read any fault codes.

The steering racks can also suffer from mechanical failure of different types. The rack teeth can wear unevenly causing a knock when turning the steering wheel. As well as a knock when on bumpy ground. Water ingress can also be in issue that can cause the rack to make a grinding noise when turning the steering wheel. The mounting bolts that secure the motor to the steering rack body can also shear this, in turn, causes the motor to come loose and even fall off of the rack in some cases.

This listing is for the following part numbers;
  • A 213 460 79 00
  • A 213 460 14 01
  • A 213 460 24 01
  • A 213 460 54 01

  • A 213 460 49 02
  • A 213 460 82 00
  • A 213 460 17 01
  • A 213 460 27 01

Sprinter
Nice discussion.

Does anybody have a clue what these pumps want to receive on the CAN bus?
I have one of these pumps from the picture above, it is listed as a Mercedes S class W221 part. But what should it receive on the CAN bus to start?
I have the pump but not the S class with it, so I can't make a CAN trace there.

Thanks in advance

No, I already know it has a 12v signal to power up, and it has a double CAN bus (probably for redundancy)
There are no other connections except for the main big 12v power.

And I am fine with sending it some speed based CAN messages, I just need to know what to send it.

In my case it is actually built into a Mercedes Sprinter that was built very early in years as an electric van between 2010 and 2015. By a small company already gone.
But they used a Mercedes pump from the w221 S class and it is already neatly built in. So it would be great to get it to work as is.

Electric power steering.... None, zero zip nadda steering feel!

Hydraulic power steering.... MB got it right in the 221 cars. Excellent feedback of what is happening at the contact patch.

I would trade electric P/S for hydraulic in my 222 car in a heartbeat. The Duo-pump worked well in my 221 S-65 didn't and give trouble. I don't need or want the car to steer for me or park its-self. The two things electric P/S is supposedly able to do that I will NEVER allow it to do.

Electric power steering is said to save gasoline via not needing a pump running all the time.
