I went with this version (small box behind the radio head unit) because I am not a fan of things that make substantial changes to the design language of the car.
I also imagine that the touchscreen versions are weird to use since the screen is so far away, it's not dignified to reach over like that
Pretty easy to install. I also snuck the included mic behind the rear-view mirror and ran the cable behind trim so there's practically nothing visible.
One annoyance is that you can't see climate control changes, but I've been using a trick: put the car in reverse, it reverts to OEM interface lol
Navigating with the wheel/knob is surprisingly intuitive. Screen quality is shockingly good, this car never ceases to amaze me.

You mention the unit is W221 Android from Aliexpress. Can this be used with an iPhone, or does it only interface with an Android phone? Sorry if this is a dumb question...just not familiar with this issue.
@nath_h Mine has Carplay and Android Auto, I just used that search string because I have an Android device. I don't think there are any of them that have one without the other, but check the descriptions to be safe. As far as I can tell, many of these things are rolling off the same production line and getting different badges for retail, so I just went for the lowest priced one that had previous sales/reviews
I just finished up my suede roof liner, so have time for my next project. I ordered a unit on Aliexpress from the following link. This group had the best feedback, if that means anything on Aliexpress. I've bought a few parts from them, but never sophisticated stuff like this, so we'll see what happens.
