Can you manually retract rear headrests?

Hi. New member. Just bought a used 2007 S550 and the rear headrests won't retract. While I try and fix the problem the right way, i.e. find any cracked air lines to the front seats or rear headrests, is there a way to manually retract the headrests? I live in Phoenix and I'm having window tint applied and with the headrests up the access to the rear window is severely compromised. Thank you.

a button beside the comand knob manually folds so long as there is no one in or nothing resting on the rear outer two seats

my button is getting strange and sometimes needs a firm press to behave

Hi,
The button you mention is not manual. It is the automatic release relying on the button and air pump etc. A manual way would be if there was some type of release at each headrest. Something along the lines of removing a trim piece at the base of each headrest and using a screwdriv

Hit send button before completing my reply. Where I left off; using a screwdriver to manually depress a tab that would unlock the headrest so it could be lowered by hand. Thanks, Ed

Ok. I thought I hit send, must of deleted my reply. The button you mention is the "automatic" way of lowering the headrest and relies on the air pump, airlines being intact, and all the electrical components of the module. I'm asking if you can access a tab or something located on each headrest that would unlock the headrest so that it could be lowered by hand. Thanks, Ed

I'm not sure if there is, but I do know that there's two tabs (on each headrest' which when depressed, allows you to remove them. I just removed mines yesterday.

I just looked again at my headrests and don't see any tabs. I've attached a picture of where the headrest supports enter the rear deck. The removable plastic cap between the two supports is the anchor point for a child seat. Would you take a picture of your headrest tabs and post? Thanks, Ed
Base of left outside rear headrest. Center and right are identical.
