S550 0-60 question




Personally I can say that the S-Class is definitely slower than our SL (which is listed as 4.5sec. but tested with 3.9 to 4.2sec.).
However, RWD cars are more exhilarating to drive (or scary depending on the capabilities of the driver.)
@Mitch_Alsup is absolutely correct about AWD giving an edge and this is the reason most high performance cars now all come with AWD. I think just about Mercedes' entire AMG lineup is now AWD.

Please know that I understand the differences in performance between RWD and AWD. My question was to get a confirmation that the 4matic does 4.5 and the RWD does 4.8
Neither MB's website (listing 4.8sec., not specifying any version) nor the DOG (listing 4.5sec., not specifying any version) provides any detail or confirmation by model/option.
Normally their info matches across the board. For all I know it could be a typo...
