Is the limiter 130 or 155 for 2020 s560 sedan?

I know my 2016 Maybach pulls hard to 130 and then NO MORE. If I had a Mercedes Scan tool I could go in there and change the top speed.

My 18 AMG GTC goes at least 143 and that was as fast as I needed to go. I dont know if the AMG cars in USA have any speed limiters on them.

2020 S560 sedan MB loaned us from the factory was limited to 130 mph. Does anyone know if S 560 cabriolet goes to 155?

You're right, in the USA it is 130 MPH. Other areas have a 155 MPH limit. However, both can be exceeded if you really want using a module that is commonly available on the market.

My ‘19 S63 AMG (US Spec) is limited at 186 mph per the specs and I also know this for a fact—I did European Delivery. The Autobahn is sweet when one has a high limit like 186mph. I believe the GTR (Model year 2019) I drove last year at Road Atlanta was still pulling hard at just under 150mph on the back straight. The 2020 GTR is limited to 198 mph in the US while the 2020 GTC is limited to 196 mph in the US.

All true.
Most AMGs are limited to either 155 or 186.
E63 has 155 limiter, E63S is limited at 186.
Renntech removes that, speed in my 2019 S63 was showing 186 on digital display while GPS read 201mph when I ran out of space and guts (a lone semi ahead that was taking too much space for my taste and at that speed the seemingly wide road all of a sudden doesn't seem so anymore.)
When approaching these speeds I also started wondering when was the last time I inspected my tires and whether the nasty pothole I hit the other night would get my hide after all.

Depends on tire specs, 130mph is a common limit and is used for that reason. 155 is an arbitrary number picked by many Euro brands. I remember racing a friend with a 335i back when I had my 350z, we were very close all the way to the speed limiter, his at 155 and mine at 158mph. Good times.

The older 600 cars like mine are also 130mph stock limiter. Almost comical how hard the car is pulling when it hits that limit.

Funny you said that about the tires. My 16 Maybach has tires rated to 180 something but as I said it shuts you down at 130.........

A simple tune from any reputable MB tuner will remove the governor.

Just how often does one need to go faster than 129 MPH anyway ?

In a V12 car, a normal aggressive passing maneuver on the highway can easily get you over 120. I have gone every bit of 170mph in my car and it was very smooth and easy, just limiting the car to 130 is doing a disservice to these highway monsters.

Has anyone seen the new Bugatti Chiron? Fastest car built to date. 1600 HP, will get to 300 miles /hour. W16 engine built in the VW plant and then it's married to the body at another plant....can't remember where.https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=...9i0kgmm90wEpYj

I do not really need to. However, my CL600 gets there VERY quick and effortless. Heck even my CLK350 and CLK55 get to 100 with ease. Mercedes makes some very capable cars. Maybe the OP wants to take their car to the track? Idk.

Do you think our CL600’s could be a 200mph car? 55 and 65 I bet can do that.

Nope. The OP just doesn’t want a car that taps out at 130.

2018 S560 and 2019 E450 Wagon.
You guys have more guts than me, I would not dare to go over 100 unless it was a drag track, you get a ticket at those speeds and you can kiss your License goodbye.

Not really. I've gotten regular speeding tickets for 102 in a 55 and that was actually me racing someone. I've been pulled over after being seen going well over 120 and not had any major issues. But speed limits in FL are more suggestions than rules... YMMV

A 600 from factory is faster than a 55. A decently modded 65 should have no problem there, same with a 600. The slight drop in power in a 600 compared to a 65 is negligible for top speed runs. I have never used anything other than the factory 160mph speedo to check so I don't know, but I know how long I was full blast after pegging it and the car kept pulling, was surely in the 175mph range before my right outer A pillar trim flew off the car and I slowed down.

If I ever manage to get my 600 back running I will do a GPS top speed pull and see how it goes, car is still basically stock, just a tune and catless downpipes.

Is there a tune available for the s560 from a reputable company that would remove the limiter (without voiding warranty)?

No tune that won't technically void the warranty, but in most cases if you tune the car and anything happens that is short of the engine exploding due to the tune, you won't have a problem at all. Almost any company is gonna give you basically the same tune, and they are all setup to be safe, the companies have nothing to gain from blowing up customer cars, the internet makes the issue way worse than it is so they usually err on the side of caution.

Interestingly, I discovered last night that another MB dealer in my state in actually an authorized RennTech installer. Going to call them this morning and see what the deal is - I found a new 2020 s560 that I like a lot, but don’t want to buy it, tune it and be hosed. Wondering if they do the work at the dealer, if it might not negate the warranty, much like Dinan does for BMW. Stay tuned (pun intended).
