2020 S450...Looking for feedback

I am currently in the market for a new vehicle to replace my BMW 5 series. I wanted to get feedback from the MB community on the S450. The leases at the moment are very attractive with the redesign a few months out. Besides the motor and Nappa leather being standard are there any significant difference between the S560 and S450?
Any help is appreciated.

I’ve attached a list of options to the one I’m currently interested in.

The only other difference I have noted is the S560s have a chrome trunk threshhold and the S450s dont lol

With that said, the engine in the S560 puts the car on a whole other level from the S450 IMO

2018 S450
After 3 years of ownership I am selling my S450 (AMG Pkg). It's sits in garage most of the time as I don't drive it as much, if you can believe it I enjoy driving our 2011 Jeep Wrangler more. My jaunts are basically short drives in and around the city.

Don't get me wrong I have enjoyed the S but there isn't really a fun factor with this car and I wasn't impressed with the base leather seating with the seats being a bit too firm for me. Plus I was always apprehensive with parking (and speed bumps) considering how low the front spoiler is to the ground.

It's Anthracite Blue/Beige Espresso w/24,000 miles.

Just picked up a 2020 S450. We needed a highway cruiser to take to the eastern shore every week with a decent mpg and luxurious ride. No AMG package, really just wanted comfort and ease. Have no interest in 20" or anything low profile/harsh. I swore up and down I would never got to a six cylinder but after test driving a 450 it ticked off all the boxes, plenty of pick up as I pass other vehicles often (have a heavy foot) with no issues. The driver assistance package is a must, I use it all the time. I've owned several S cars in the past and the W222 really is special, amazing experience. We really went looking for an E450 but the deal on the S made it an easy decision. Did a 27 month lease so will likely trade it on a W223 in a couple years.

i had a 2018 s450 and ran it trouble-free for 30,000m and just last month traded it for a 2020 s560. as you already mentioned, the two cars are essentially the same equipment-wise save for the engine and leather. premium leather upgrades on the 450 are more expensive than on the 560. i liked the 450, had enough power for my needs and was easy on gasoline (34mph motorway cruising). the only downside was the engine had a tick-tick-tick to it that you could only hear when outside or had the door open and engine running (can't hear it inside due to the vault-like quality of these cars). i wouldn't have any hesitation on buying another 450. i bought the 560 as the one i found had bang-on the colours i wanted and all the equipment i desired. i like the 560 as well. it is definitely more powerful no doubt. you pay for that performance with a slightly heavier nose and less favourable motorway mpg at 28.

2018 S560 and 2019 E450 Wagon.
I have the same 3.0 V6 motor in my 2019 E450 Wagon. It is a very capable motor and really thought about a S450 Benz. But with the 8 cyl the start stop function is a lot smoother and there is just that much more torque and hp to pull the car out of tough highway situations where you gotta move quick. Around town the V6 is perfectly adequate but on the highway when you going at speed sometimes having that extra power the 8 provides is a good thing. Plus I like the sound of a 8 better too. Especially on startup the V6 can sounds a little bit raspy and un S like lol.

2020 S560 Sedan, 2019 SL450, 2019 E450 Luxury Trim Wagon, '24 BMW I7 on order...
I have the V6 in my SL and my E Wagon. Magnificent engine! That said, I love the V8 in my S560. The S Class is a big, luxurious car and to me, I just wanted the absolutely effortless propulsion of the V8. Whichever model you choose, you will love the W222.

I just picked up a new S450. I love it! The V6 seems to have ample power but I got this car for the comfort factor. I also have a GTI and 2007 Corvette among others so those give me the need for speed when I want. The S450 replaces a 2017 640 coupe that felt comparable in power. Mine is lightly equipped with Premium and the 20” wheels, comfort box and led logos. Only going to drive the car about 3-4K per year so I don’t think I’ll miss the drive assist pack. It is a good choice

Do you mind telling me what the sticker price was and how much they discounted it?

2015 S-550
After 6 MB, incl 3 S-Class with V8 engines I got a 2019 S450. Better gas mileage and enough power, even if V-6 is not my favorite engine. I also got 19 inch wheels with all season tires for better ride quality than the 20 inch wheels, the AMG body kit, Steering and Parking assist, head-up display and some other minor things. The car had some quality issues with the Easy Entry/Exit that required too frequent shop visits and a dysfunctional nav system that sometimes did not recognize valid addresses when input manually and never recognized any address that was imported to the Contact file via bluetooth from an Android phone. My 2015 S-550 had no problems with that (or any other problems) and our 2019 and 2020 BMWs have no problem either. If navigation system is important to you, you may want to make sure that it works as described in the Owner's Manual. The S-Class is a very comfortable car, but I got rid of it because of the dysfunctional nav system that the dealer could not fix despite quite a few shop visits.

We're 1000 miles into our purchase of a new '20 S450 and couldn't be happier. Power is more than adequate though we've been taking it easy until we hit the 2000 mile mark. Only issue, which was resolved quickly, has been a kinked drivers seat air line which prevented any function requiring air (massage, bolster adjustments, etc.) from working. Two weeks after our purchase we stumbled over the fact that the dealer was no longer going to be affiliated with MB, which pissed us off (nearest dealer is now 60 miles away)...but the merits of the car mitigate the non-disclosure.

Have you had a chance to check the navigation system? Does it navigate to addresses that to have downloaded to the Contact file from your phone? Or does it say "No Result"?

I've used the nav with no issues. Have not tried any downloaded addresses just either a simple entry or a few send to Benz via phone and had no issues.

One thing I've noticed is changing the channels on sat radio is slow, doesn't keep up with the controller, has a lag. Unlike my 2018 or previous MB's with the older command which keep up.

Please let me know what happens if you import addresses from your phone via bluetooth to the Contact file. My 2019 S450 responded by "No result" to any and all addresses selected. Same addresses worked fine when input manually: ZIP, Street and House No. So it is not a database issue but a nav system software issue.

Looked for any of my contacts (on my phone) that I've actually entered an address..found one..and when I expanded the address field one of the "open with" apps listed was the mercedes app with "send to car" option. Huh...interesting. Went ahead and sent it...I'll see if I can find it somewhere in the car's subsystems tomorrow. Keep in mind I regarded getting the garage door opener sync'd and our phones paired as major accomplishments!

Couldn't find any evidence that the car received the address I had sent using the app...so I pulled up an address from my phone using the car's TEL function and had no problem getting route guidance to it.

really old post but do you remember what discounts they had? Or did you just happen to negotiate 15k off?

how has the engine and car treated you?

Your signature doesn't include your location, but where you purchase can greatly influence your price.

I had to travel from Charlotte NC to Arlington VA to save $10k when purchasing my CPO 2019 S450.

Prices are higher in my area than anywhere else I've found, and SoCal is likely the lowest in the country.

I've been completely satisfied with the car until now (2.5 months, 4k miles). Engine may not be as smooth/powerful as S560, but I get 31mpg on the highway, the car never feels underpowered, and the price difference was a dealbreaker for me (wife/financial director set a maximum limit for purchase price). No regrets.

Yeah definitely depends on where. I'm in the Bay Area, these dealers do not negotiate much. I do see a 2023 S500 for 16k off since it is already 2024. Not sure if I would be able to get much more off of that.

We are considering 2020 S450 or S560. I've always heard to buy 8 cylinders with Mercedes so we're a bit hesitant on getting the S450. Our 2016 has also been very reliable except for the sunroof breaking so we're also debating keeping it since we have not had issues. Decisions decisions...

I drove the S450 and S560 back to back before I got my 560 back in 2020, and it was no comparison IMO
