Just Purchased a S560
Hi , My name Is Ian. I am out here in the PNW (tacoma area)..and we just purchased a slightly used 2020 s560 4matic SEDAN CPO from Mercedes Seattle..20" amp staggered wheels..
My last experience with Mercedes was a Komrpessor engine, and I swore I would never go back..But the interior of s560 drew us back in, and just didn't like the w223 interior.
I have gone through the threads (so I sincerely apologize as I know this has been asked a few times, I just am not connecting the dots on a few things I still need help on to assist me ..

- can someone help me with the model\part number for a Spare (to keep in the back while going on road trips) and the lugnuts\bolts I might need (size)..I got confused as. I noticed some folks using amg w221 (I think)..or point me to a thread I may have missed..
- has anyone had any experience with continental tire Non-Run flats vs the Bridgstone Non-Run Flats. 20"
- ........... I was thinking of this route, in case we do get a flat, and need a new tire within a day (most tire companies out here can get them pretty quick)
- Also...If we did end up buying new rims and going the 19" is the AMG wheel\RIM still as soft as the 20's or would after market be a better way to go ?

There are several tire/wheel threads in the forum - many opinions and suggestions. You'll want to do some surfing.
As for Carplay - the 2020's come with Carplay. One fo the USB ports in the console (I think the one on the passenger side) is the one to use and Carplay starts automatically. The other USB port in the console is power only (or at least it's not for Carplay).

Was looking for a specific rim, offset, etc etc tc due to the 20" AMG staggered setup with bigger brakes.. So I tried to search before I wrote the thread..
As for the CarPlay, yes I know there is a USB, but that is not wireles (which I am looking for) as far as car play goes (Maps etc etc)...THe wireless dongle I posted I believe works over WIFI, and prefer Bluetooth as I do work from the back of the car from time to time, and need driver connected...

Since wireless Carplay wasn't even an Apple option in 2017 when the facelifted 2018 S-class was introduced with Carplay, MB didn't add it to future years as the tech in COMAND never really gets updated after a new model or facelift. I'm sure it will be standard in the W223 through since it's an all new model. You'll need to purchase a WIFI dongle and plug it into that port in the armrest in order to have wireless with iOS 9 or later.
As far as replacements for the crappy RFT's, do not downgrade to 19" wheels and instead put these tires on your 20's. They are fantastic!

will look in Continentals. see which one has a better stock . I do quite a bit traveling and having a tire available from like Les Schwab or whomever readily available in the warehouse, is appealing to me...
I still have heard good things about Bridgestone...

So after looking into a spare tire for s560 Quatromatic..I was able to find one person that offers a spare that should work with the specs...(unfortunately, you still have to remove the original tire and place it in the trunk)
I would fall into the 20" tire size for 2020 s560 with AMG 20" staggered rims..as my measurements to top of the trim are 29 and 29 3/4"

Mercedes allows up to an 8% variance between the OEM tire and the temporary spare's rolling diameter, we are well below this on both of our 20" tire sizes for your car.
I am recommending you go with our 20" alloy wheel with the tire size 145/60R20 because of it's size & I know for sure it will not bump up to bottom of the trim that is right above the tires on the vehicle. The 195 size tire is taller and I think will be too close to the trim, you may want to measure and see if 28.4 inches falls at least 1 inch below the trim. If it does, you could go with the 195 tire and this spare is $359.00 plus tax and shipping. The price of the 20" with the special Continental tire size of 145/60R20 is $499 plus tax and shipping. This tire has a 15,000 mile warranty and can be driven at normal speeds and distances, same as the Toyo tire. "

All you bunch of worrywarts out there thinking your tires are all of a sudden going to blow out is a bit neurotic. In 37 years of driving, it's only happened to me once about 30 years ago when I hit a piece of rebar on the highway in my old Probe GT.
The tire goo and air pump will take care of 99% of flat tires. In fact, it is extremely rare that you'd even need the goo as most leaks are slow and you'd be able to make it to a tire shop for repair by just adding air. And in the very rare instance where some major impact trashes the tires, that's why you have MB roadside assistance or AAA or whatever. Spending lots of money on some crappy spare tire solution that takes up valuable trunk space is very silly IMO.

Ditched my run-flats as fast as I could. New tires are Bridgestone Turanza Quiettrack. So far these tires are unbelievable. Quiet and the ride is smooth and luxurious the way an S class should ride. Years ago I had a BMW Z-4 with run flats and my wife refused to ride in the roadster until the ride improved. Since then got rid of run flats on any car I've bought. Usually the dealer will swap them out for non run flats. Worry about flats? Not me. Although I do keep a small 12V compressor in the trunk. I've only experienced one slow leak in seventeen years. Since 2004 I've been run flat free and have never had a flat in non-run flat tires. Would never take up the space in my trunk with a spare tire. Living vicariously without a spare tire.

To be fair. my Older Mercedes had 2 flats in one week ( then my truck (never had a flat). Mustang never had a flat, Mercury Cougar 2 flats on one road trips.So
I do travel some distances where roadside is either via CB or satellite Phone. So driving longer distances may require some comfort of a spare..
AT VERY LEAST A JACK! that way if I need to plug the tire, it sure helps to remove foreign debris and plug away.

Never understood how run-flats were supposed to help you when you're a hundred miles out from civilization. It's one of the main reasons I've never taken my Mercedes (or my past BMW) on a road trip. What's the logic behind eliminating the spare, are people driving further distances less often these days?

I have had more Car flats then MX flats...
TO your point though..yea...when you do get a flat you get a flat...and can even be more dangerous on a MX especially in the HIGH HEAT, and not being near anywhere... but most MX trips are usually with a buddy or a few folks on longer distances...
